ABSTRACT Objective To present the evolution and the recent data on the etiology, diagnosis, management and outcomes of penile fracture (PF) with concomitant urethral injury. Materials and Methods We searched the Pubmed database between 1998 and 2019 using the following key words: “penile fracture”, “fracture of penis”, “trauma to penis”, “rupture of corpora cavernosa”, “urethral injury”, “urethral rupture” and “urethral reconstruction”. Results The incidence of urethral lesion in patients with PF varies by geographic region and etiology. Blood in the meatus, hematuria and voiding symptoms are highly indicative of urethral rupture. The diagnosis of PF is eminently clinical and complementary exams are not necessary. The treatment consists of urethral reconstruction and the most common complications found are urethral stenosis and urethrocutaneous fistula. Conclusion PF is an uncommon urological emergency, particularly in cases with urethral involvement. Urethral injury should be suspected in the presence of suggestive clinical signs, and diagnosis is usually clinical. Urgent urethral reconstruction is mandatory and produces satisfactory results with low levels of complications.

RESUMO: O objetivo deste trabalho foi estimar a divergência genética entre 49 genótipos de soja ( Glycinemax L. Merrill.), visando auxiliar programas de melhoramento voltados à qualidade do grão na escolha de progenitores. A divergência genética foi estimada por meio da distância generalizada de Mahalanobis a partir dos percentuais de proteína, óleo e ácidos graxos oleico, linoleico e linolênico após cultivo dos genótipos em diferentes ambientes. Os genótipos foram agrupados por métodos aglomerativos e as projeções bi e tridimensional da matriz de distância foram obtidas. Os teores médios de proteína e óleo nos quatro ambientes variaram de 34,25 a 45,18% e de 16,48 a 23,01%, respectivamente. Os teores médios dos ácidos graxos oleico, linoleico e linolênico variaram de 20,2 a 42,41%, de 44,17 a 63,18% e de 5,89 a 10,39%, respectivamente. As distâncias genéticas variaram de 0,11 a 251,02 e indicaram variabilidade genética entre os acessos. O par de acessos mais divergente foi PI417360/CD01RR8384, seguido por PI417360/B3PTA213-3-4 e PI417360/BARC-8. Já o par de acessos mais similar foi CS3032PTA276-1-2/CS3032PTA190-5-1, seguido por UFV18/M-SOY8914 e BRSMG Garantia/CD983321RR. Neste estudo, são indicadas como promissoras em termos de variabilidade genética as hibridações envolvendo BARC-8, CD2013PTA, CD01RR8384, CS303TNKCA, PI181544 e PI417360. Dentre esses genótipos, destacam-se BARC-8 e CD2013PTA, com teores proteicos acima de 43%, e CD01RR8384 e CS303TNKCA, com teores de óleo acima de 20%. A utilização desses genótipos geneticamente divergentes e com elevadas médias fenotípicas em futuros cruzamentos deverá produzir recombinantes desejáveis para a qualidade do grão.

ABSTRACT: The objective of this paper was to estimate the genetic divergence among 49 soybean ( Glycine max L. Merrill .) genotypes to assist grain quality-focused breeding programs in the choice of progenitors. The genetic divergence was estimated using the Mahalanobis generalized distance from the percentages of protein, oil, and fatty acids oleic, linoleic and linolenic after cultivation of genotypes in different environments. Genotypes were grouped by agglomerative methods and the two and three-dimensional projections of the distance matrix were obtained. The average protein and oil contents in the four environments ranged from 34.25 to 45.18% and from 16.48 to 23.01%, respectively. The average contents of the fatty acids oleic, linoleic and linolenic ranged from 20.2 to 42.41%, from 44.17 to 63.18%, and from 5.89 to 10.39%, respectively. The genetic distances ranged from 0.11 to 251.02 and indicated genetic variability among the accessions. The most divergent pair of accessions was PI417360/CD01RR8384, followed by PI417360/B3PTA213-3-4 and PI417360/BARC-8. The most similar par of accessions was CS3032PTA276-1-2/CS3032PTA190-5-1, followed by UFV18/M-SOY8914 and BRSMG Garantia/CD983321RR. In this study we indicated as promising in terms of genetic variability the hybridizations involving BARC-8, CD2013PTA, CD01RR8384, CS303TNKCA, PI181544, and PI417360. Among these genotypes we can stand out BARC-8 and CD2013PTA, with protein contents above 43%, and CD01RR8384 and CS303TNKCA, with oil contents above 20%. The use of these genetically divergent genotypes and with high phenotypic means in future crosses should produce desirable recombinants for grain quality.

RESUMO A macaúba, Acrocomia aculeata (Jacq.) Lodd. ex Mart.), é uma das espécies nativas brasileiras com maior potencial para a produção de biocombustíveis. O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar a diversidade e estruturação genética de macaúba para auxiliar na definição de estratégias de amostragem para bancos de germoplasma. Quarenta e seis marcadores microssatélites, dos quais sete marcadores polimórficos foram utilizados para avaliar 103 indivíduos de macaúba coletados em diferentes regiões do Brasil. Os marcadores polimórficos foram utilizados para gerar uma matriz de dissimilaridade pelo índice ponderado. A visualização da variabilidade genética foi realizada através de uma projeção 3D da matriz de dissimilaridade. Sessenta e sete destes indivíduos tiveram sua região ITS sequenciada e alinhada, e as mutações encontradas foram utilizadas para gerar uma rede de haplótipos. A distância genética média identificada entre os indivíduos foi de 76,2%, variando de 3,7 a 100%. Não foi encontrada estruturação da variabilidade genética. O sequenciamento da região ITS dos 67 indivíduos revelou quatro sítios polimórficos, definindo quatro haplótipos. Os resultados obtidos neste estudo sugerem que as populações de macaúba estiveram fortemente conectadas historicamente, indicando recente expansão populacional da espécie. Os resultados indicam que a amostragem da variabilidade genética de macaúba deve estar focada em coletas mais robustas em poucos locais, mas áreas como Caatinga e Chaco Úmido podem apresentar novas fontes de variabilidade genética, e devem ser melhor estudadas.

ABSTRACT The macaw palm, Acrocomia aculeata (Jacq.) Lodd. ex Mart., is a Brazilian native species with great potential for biofuel production. The aim of this work was to analyze macaw palm genetic diversity to structure and assist in the definition of sampling strategies for germplasm banks. Forty-six microsatellite markers, from which seven polymorphic markers were used to evaluate 103 macaw palm individuals collected from different Brazilian locations. The polymorphic markers were used to generate a dissimilarity matrix by weighted index. The imaging of genetic variability was realized by 3D projection of matrix dissimilarity. Sixty-seven individuals had their ITS region sequenced and aligned, and the mutations found were used to generate a haplotype network. The average genetic distance identified between individuals was 76.2%, ranging from 3.7 to 100%. Genetic variability structure was not found. ITS region sequencing of the 67 individuals revealed four polymorphic sites, defining four haplotypes. The results of this study suggest that historically, macaw populations were strongly connected, indicating a recent population expansion of the species. The results indicate that macaw genetic variety sampling should focus on effective collection in selected locations. Areas such as Caatinga and Humid Chaco however, could present new sources of genetic variability, and should be studied.

Abstract The objective of this work was to map QTL for agronomic traits in a Brazilian soybean population. For this, 207 F2:3 progenies from the cross CS3035PTA276-1-5-2 x UFVS2012 were genotyped and cultivated in Viçosa-MG, using randomized block design with three replications. QTL detection was carried out by linear regression and composite interval mapping. Thirty molecular markers linked to QTL were detected by linear regression for the total of nine agronomic traits. QTL for SWP (seed weight per plant), W100S (weight of 100 seeds), NPP (number of pods per plant), and NSP (number of seeds per plant) were detected by composite interval mapping. Four QTL with additive effect are promising for marker-assisted selection (MAS). Particularly, the markers Satt155 and Satt300 could be useful in simultaneous selection for greater SWP, NPP, and NSP.

RESUMO A baixa diversidade genética traz limitação ao melhoramento de plantas, pois genótipos semelhantes compartilham alelos em comum causando pouca complementaridade e baixo vigor , devido aos baixos níveis de heterozigosidade obtidos nos cruzamentos .Objetivou-se, com este trabalho, analisar o teor de óleo e a diversidade genética de genótipos de soja com base em regiões de QTL desta característica para a escolha de progenitores visando ao aumento no teor de óleo em soja. Vinte e dois genótipos com ampla variação no teor de óleo incluindo cultivares com altos teores foram cultivados em diferentes condições brasileiras e o teor de óleo nos grãos foi quantificado por espectrometria do infravermelho. Para estimar a diversidade genética foram analisados marcadores microssatélites selecionados com base em regiões de QTL para o teor de óleo em soja. Nestes estudos observou-se ampla variação quanto ao teor de óleo nos grãos e razoável diversidade genética entre os genótipos, sendo a PI181544 a mais divergente, seguida por Suprema. Os genótipos PI371610/Suprema e Suprema/CD01RR8384 mostraram distância genética e maiores teores de óleo nos grãos. Já as cultivares Suprema e CD01RR8384 tiveram os mais altos teores de óleo e se mostraram pouco relacionadas geneticamente. Estes genótipos são progenitores promissores para a seleção de alto teor de óleo em soja.

ABSTRACT The low genetic diversity brings limitation to breeding, because genetically similar genotypes share alleles in common, causing little complementarity and low vigor due to the low levels of heterozygosity in crosses. The objective of this work was to analyze the oil content and genetic diversity of soybean genotypes (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) based on QTL regions of this trait for choice of progenitors for increase in oil content. Twenty-two genotypes with wide variation in oil content, including cultivars with high oil contents, were cultivated in different Brazilian conditions and the oil content of the grains was quantified by infrared spectrometry. Microsatellite markers selected based on QTL regions for oil content in soybean were analyzed to estimate the genetic diversity. In these studies, a wide variation in oil content (17.28-23.01%) and a reasonable diversity among the genotypes were observed, being PI181544 the most divergent genotype, followed by Suprema. The genotypes PI371610/Suprema and Suprema/CD01RR8384 showed genetic distance and higher oil contents in the grains, while the cultivars Suprema and CD01RR8384 had the highest oil contents and proved to be little genetically related. These genotypes are promising progenitors for selection of high oil content in soybean.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a relação entre os parâmetros de divergência em regiões de QTLs e a variância genética em genótipos de soja, quanto aos teores de proteína e óleo nos grãos. Dois grupos de genótipos foram avaliados, em diferentes ambientes, quanto aos teores de proteína e óleo e genotipados com marcadores moleculares de regiões de QTLs. A partir de cada grupo, estabeleceram-se subgrupos por critérios pré-definidos e avaliou-se a relação entre os parâmetros, tendo-se comparado a divergência média e a variância genética entre os subgrupos. Os subgrupos foram definidos com base nos critérios de diferença em divergência média, homogeneidade e heterogeneidade nos subgrupos e proximidade em uma projeção tridimensional da matriz de distância. As percentagens de concordância entre maiores valores de divergência média e de variância genética para o total de subgrupos de cada grupo inicial foram de 72,5 e de 73,4%, respectivamente. Portanto, nestes genótipos, há relação positiva entre as estimativas de divergência em regiões de QTL e variância genética para os teores de proteína e de óleo dos grãos. As distâncias genéticas com base nos marcadores moleculares de regiões de QTLs são eficientes para a predição da variabilidade genética em genótipos de soja para os teores de proteína e de óleo dos grãos.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the relationship between the parameters of divergence on QTL regions and the genetic variance in soybean genotypes for protein and oil contents. Two groups of genotypes were evaluated for protein and oil contents in different environments, and genotyped with molecular markers of QTL regions. Subgroups were established by predefined criteria from each group, and the relationship between the parameters was evaluated by comparing mean divergence and genetic variance between the subgroups. The subgroups were defined based on the criteria of difference of mean divergence, homogeneity and heterogeneity in the subgroups, and proximity in a three-dimensional projection of the distance matrix. Percentage agreement between the greater values for mean divergence and genetic divergence for the subgroup total of each initial group was 72.5 and 73.4%, respectively. Therefore, there is a positive relationship between the estimates on QTL regions and genetic variance for protein and oil contents in grains in these genotypes. The genetic distances based on molecular markers of QTL regions are efficient to predict the genetic variability in soybean genotypes, for protein and oil contents.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi identificar, por meio de análises biométricas, os genitores parentais de soja mais estáveis, com maior teor de óleo ou de proteína, cultivados em diferentes épocas e localidades do Estado de Minas Gerais. Quarenta e nove genótipos foram avaliados nos municípios de Viçosa, Visconde do Rio Branco e São Gotardo, em Minas Gerais, de 2009 a 2011. Os conteúdos de proteína e óleo foram analisados por espectrometria no infravermelho, com uso de analisador FT-NIR. Os efeitos de genótipo, ambiente e da interação genótipo x ambiente foram significativos. O genótipo de soja BARC-8 é o melhor genitor para o aumento no teor proteico das progênies, seguido por BR 8014887 e CS 3032PTA276-3-4. A seleção para alto teor de óleo é mais eficiente quando os cruzamentos envolvem os genótipos Suprema, CD 01RR8384 e A7002, que apresentam altos valores de média fenotípica, adaptabilidade ampla e maior estabilidade frente à variação ambiental.

The objective of this work was to identify by biometric analyses the most stable soybean parents, with higher oil or protein contents, cultivated at different seasons and locations of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Forty-nine genotypes were evaluated in the municipalities of Viçosa, Visconde do Rio Branco, and São Gotardo, in the state of Minas Gerais, from 2009 to 2011. Protein and oil contents were analyzed by infrared spectrometry using a FT-NIR analyzer. The effects of genotype, environment, and genotype x environment interaction were significant. The BARC-8 soybean genotype is the best parent to increase protein contents in the progenies, followed by BR 8014887 and CS 3032PTA276-3-4. Selection for high oil content is more efficient when the crossings involve the Suprema, CD 01RR8384, and A7002 genotypes, which show high mean phenotypic values, wide adaptability, and greater stability to environmental variation.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi identificar SNPs em genes associados ao conteúdo de ácidos graxos em soja e implementar a metodologia "high resolution melting" (HRM) para genotipagem desses SNPs. Os iniciadores HRM foram desenhados para discriminar os alelos SNPs em duas populações de mapeamento (RILs e F2) e seguiram o padrão esperado de segregação. Os SNPs do gene ABI associaram-se significativamente ao conteúdo de ácido esteárico (R² = 12,14), e os do gene FAD3B, aos conteúdos de ácido oleico (R² = 14,69) e linolênico (R² = 10,62). A técnica de genotipagem dos SNPs por HRM é eficiente na discriminação das classes genotípicas.

The objective of this work was to identify SNPs in genes associated with fatty acid content in soybean and to implement the high resolution melting (HRM) technique for SNP genotyping. HRM primers were designed to discriminate SNP alleles in two mapping populations (RILs and F2) and followed the expected pattern of segregation. The ABI gene SNPs were significantly associated with stearic acid content (R² = 12.14), and the ones from the FAD3B gene, with oleic (R² = 14.69) and linolenic acid (R² = 10.62) contents. The technique of genotyping SNPs by HRM is efficient to discriminate genotype classes.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar influência da informação de parentesco na seleção de progênies de soja quanto à produtividade e aos teores de óleo e proteína, com base no uso de modelos mistos de predição dos valores genéticos. Novecentas progênies F4:6 e 200 progênies F4:7 de soja foram avaliadas nas safras 2010/2011 e 2011/2012, respectivamente. As progênies foram obtidas de cruzamentos múltiplos a partir de 57 progenitores. Os dados foram analisados por meio de modelos aleatórios (quadrados mínimos) e mistos BLUP/REML ("best linear unbiased prediction/restricted maximum likelihood"). Os maiores valores de ganhos preditos foram obtidos com o BLUP/REML. Os valores genéticos preditos com o método BLUP/REML, sem informação de parentesco, apresentaram alta correlação com aqueles obtidos com o modelo aleatório, além de detectada alta coincidência das progênies selecionadas. A inclusão da matriz de parentesco resultou na seleção de progênies diferentes e em maior acurácia na predição dos valores genéticos.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of relationship information for selecting soybean progenies as to their productivity, and oil and protein contents, using mixed models for the prediction of breeding values. Nine hundred F4:6 and 200 F4:7 soybean progenies were evaluated in the seasons 2010/2011 and 2011/2012, respectively. The progenies were obtained from multiple crosses from 57 parents. Data were analyzed using random models (least squares) and mixed models BLUP/REML (best linear unbiased prediction/restricted maximum likelihood). The highest values of predicted gains were obtained by BLUP/REML. The breeding values predicted with the use of BLUP/REML without relationship information were highly correlated with the ones obtained with the random model, and the selected progenies were rather coincident. The inclusion of the relationship matrix resulted in the selection of different progenies and in higher accuracy of breeding values.

Este estudo objetivou determinar o efeito do ácido jasmônico (AJ), do Acibenzolar-S-Metil (ASM) e do silicato de cálcio (fonte de silício solúvel, Si) na potencialização da resistência da soja à ferrugem asiática (FA). A severidade da FA foi significativamente reduzida nas plantas pulverizadas com ASM ou supridas com Si em comparação com as plantas pulverizadas com água deionizada ou AJ. Para a atividade das quitinases (QUI), diferenças significativas entre plantas não inoculadas e inoculadas que foram pulverizadas com água destilada ou ASM ocorreram às 72 horas após a inoculação (hai); às 24 e 72 hai para plantas pulverizadas com AJ e às 141 hai quando supridas com Si. Para β-1,3-glucanases (GLU), diferenças significativas entre plantas inoculadas e não inoculadas que foram pulverizadas com água deionizada ocorreram às 24, 48 e 141 hai, mas não ocorreram até as 72 hai para plantas pulverizadas com ASM. Para fenilalanina amônia-liases (PAL), houve diferença significativa na atividade entre plantas inoculadas e não inoculadas somente para aquelas pulverizadas com ASM as 72 e 141 hai. Em conclusão, os sintomas da FA podem ser reduzidos em plantas pulverizadas com ASM ou em plantas supridas com Si, em parte, pela participação das enzimas de defesa estudadas.

This study aimed to determine the effect of jasmonic acid (JA), Acibenzolar-S-Methyl (ASM) and calcium silicate (a source of soluble silicon, Si), on the potentiation of soybean resistance to Asian soybean rust (ASR). The ASR severity was significantly reduced on plants sprayed with ASM or supplied with Si in comparison to plants sprayed with JA or deionized water. For chitinases (CHI), significant differences in activity between non-inoculated and inoculated plants sprayed with deionized water or with ASM occurred at 72 hours after inoculation (hai), at 24 and 72 hai when sprayed with JA and at 141 hai when supplied with Si. For β-1,3-glucanases (GLU), significant differences in activity between non-inoculated and inoculated plants sprayed with deionized water occurred at 24, 48 and 141 hai, but not until 72 for plants sprayed with ASM. For phenylalanine ammonia-lyases (PAL), significant differences in activity between non-inoculated and inoculated plants occurred only for plants sprayed with ASM at 72 and 141 hai. In conclusion, the ASR symptoms can be mild on plants sprayed with ASM or supplied with Si and that this amelioration likely involved the defense enzymes.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a associação de marcadores microssatélites localizados próximos a locos de caracteres quantitativos (QTL) descritos na literatura, com os teores de óleo e proteína de genótipos de soja cultivados no Brasil. Quarenta e nove genótipos de soja foram avaliados em Viçosa, MG (12/2009); Visconde do Rio Branco, MG (2/2010); e São Gotardo, MG (2/2010 e 10/2011). Utilizou-se o delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com três repetições. Os teores de óleo e proteína foram determinados por espectrometria do infravermelho. Foi observada ampla variabilidade genética para esses teores. Dos 65 marcadores microssatélites testados, 35 apresentaram associação significativa com pelo menos um dos teores, mas poucos foram consistentes com a mudança de ambiente. Ao se levar em conta a consistência da associação em todos os ambientes, os marcadores Satt239, Satt384 e Satt562 destacam-se para a seleção assistida quanto aos teores de óleo e de proteína, enquanto o Satt310 destaca-se para seleção quanto ao teor de óleo, e o Satt567, quanto ao de proteína.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the association of microsatellite markers located close to quantitative trait loci (QTL) described in the literature, with contents of oil and protein soybean genotypes cultivated in Brazil. Forty-nine soybean genotypes were evaluated in Viçosa, MG (12/2009), Visconde do Rio Branco, MG (2/2010), and São Gotardo, MG (2/2010 and 10/2011). A randomized complete block design, with three replicates, was used. The oil and protein contents were determined by infrared spectroscopy. A high genetic variability was observed for oil and protein contents. Among the 65 tested microsatellite markers, 35 showed significant association with at least one of these contents, but few of them were consistent with the change of environment. Considering the consistency of the association in all environments, the markers Satt239, Satt384, and Satt562 stand out for assisted selection as to oil and protein contents, whereas Satt310 stands out for the selection as to oil content, and Satt567, as to protein content.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi validar a associação de marcadores moleculares do tipo "single nucleotide polymorphism" (SNP) para os genes FAD3A, FAD3B e FAD3C com o conteúdo de ácido linolênico (18:3) em sementes de soja e analisar a influência dos parâmetros genéticos destes marcadores nesta característica. Foram genotipadas 185 progênies F2 derivadas do cruzamento entre A29 (mutante para os três genes FAD3, 1% de 18:3) e Tucunaré (genótipo selvagem, 11% de 18:3). Os marcadores moleculares para os genes FAD3A, FAD3B e FAD3C explicaram a variação do conteúdo de 18:3 nas populações segregantes F2 e F2:3. Além disso, as substituições alélicas no loco FAD3A proporcionam maiores variações no conteúdo de 18:3 que as substituições nos outros dois locos.

The objective of this work was to validate the association of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers for the genes FAD3A, FAD3B, and FAD3C with the linolenic acid content (18:3) in soybean seeds and to analyze the influence of the genetic parameters of these markers on this trait. One hundred and eighty‑five F2 progenies derived from a cross between A29 (mutant for the three FAD3 genes, 1% 18:3 content) and Tucunaré (wild‑type genotype, 11% 18:3 content) were genotyped. The molecular markers for genes FAD3A, FAD3B, and FAD3C explained the variations in 18:3 content of the F2 and F2:3 segregating populations. In addition, allelic substitutions in the FAD3A locus provide greater variations in 18:3 content than substitutions in the other two loci.

O controle da Ferrugem Asiática da Soja (FAS), causado pelo fungo Phakopsora pachyrhizi, tem sido difícil devido à agressividade do patógeno e pela falta de cultivares resistentes. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar os efeitos da pulverização com silicato de potássio (SP) e do suprimento de Si via silicato de cálcio (SC) no solo sobre a resistência da soja à FAS. A solução de PS foi pulverizada nas folhas 24 horas antes da inoculação, enquanto que o SC foi aplicado no solo 35 dias antes da semeadura. O processo infeccioso de P. pachyrhizi foi investigado por microscopia eletrônica de varredura. As urédias nas folhas das plantas pulverizadas com SP foram menores e mais compactas do que as observadas nas folhas das plantas cultivadas em solo contendo SC ou em solo não contendo SC (tratamento controle). Nas folhas das plantas do tratamento controle, as urédias produziram muitos uredosporos aos nove dias após inoculação e a severidade da FAS foi de 15, 8 e 9% para as plantas dos tratamentos controle, SP e SC, respectivamente. Em conclusão, a pulverização de SP contribuiu para reduzir o número de urédias cm-2 da área foliar e ambas, a pulverização com SP e a aplicação do SC, resultaram na redução dos sintomas da FAS.

The control of Asian Soybean Rust (ASR), caused by Phakopsora pachyrhizi, has been difficult due to the aggressiveness of the pathogen and the lack of resistant cultivars. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of spray of potassium silicate (PS) and soil amendment with calcium silicate (CS) on soybean resistance to ASR. The PS solution was sprayed to leaves 24 hours prior to fungal inoculation while CS was amended to the soil at thirty-five days before sowing. The infection process of P. pachyrhizi was investigated by scanning electron microscopy. The uredia on leaves of plants sprayed with PS were smaller and more compact than those observed on the leaves of plants grown in soil amended with CS or in soil non-amended with CS (control treatment). On leaves of plants from the control treatment, uredia produced many urediniospores at 9 days after inoculation, and the ASR severity was 15, 8 and 9%, respectively, for plants from control, PS and CS treatments. In conclusion, the spray of PS contributed to reduce the number of uredia per cm² of leaf area and both PS spray and CS resulted in lower ASR symptoms.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi identificar locos associados a características quantitativas (QTL) de efeito maior e menor para a resistência às raças 3, 9 e 14 do nematoide do cisto da soja (NCS) na cultivar Hartwig, mapear novos QTLs de resistência para estas raças e verificar a existência de interações epistáticas entre QTLs. A cultivar Hartwig é uma importante fonte de resistência ao NCS. Linhagens endogâmicas recombinantes (LER) obtidas do cruzamento entre 'Hartwig' (resistente) e Y23 (suscetível) foram avaliadas quanto à resistência às três raças. Novas regiões genômicas de resistência ao NCS foram identificadas por microssatélites. Quatro QTLs, que explicaram entre 12 e 34% da variância fenotípica, foram detectados para a resistência à raça 3 nos grupos de ligação (GL) A2, G, J e M. O QTL no GL G também é importante para a resistência à raça 9. Interações epistáticas foram detectadas entre loci, o que indica resistência às raças 9 e 14. Há QTLs de maior e menor efeito para a resistência ao NCS.

The objective of this work was to identify major and minor-effect quantitative trait loci (QTL) for resistance to races 3, 9, and 14 of soybean cyst nematode (SCN) in Hartwig cultivar; to map new resistance QTLs for these races; and to check for the existence of epistatic interactions between QTLs. Cultivar Hartwig is an important resistance source to SCN. Recombinant inbred lines (RIL) obtained from a cross between 'Hartwig' (resistant) and Y23 (susceptible) were evaluated regarding resistance to the three races. New genomic regions for resistance to SCN were identified by microsatellites. Four QTLs, which explained between 12 and 34% of phenotypic variance, were detected for resistance to race 3 in linkage groups (LG) A2, G, J, and M. The QTL in LG G is also important for resistance to race 9. Epistatic interactions were detected between loci, which indicate resistance to races 9 and 14. There are high and low-effect resistance QTLs to SCN.

A soja contém fatores antinutricionais proteicos, inibidores de proteases e lectinas, que limitam o seu uso na alimentação humana e animal. Com a finalidade de reduzir os teores destes antinutricionais na semente de soja, foi desenvolvida uma linhagem sem Inibidor de Tripsina Kunitz (KTI) e Lectina (LEC), pelo Programa de Melhoramento da Qualidade da Soja do BIOAGRO, da Universidade Federal de Viçosa. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo principal a caracterização bioquímico-nutricional dessa linhagem. Foram avaliadas a qualidade nutricional da proteína e as alterações morfológicas no intestino de ratos Wistar alimentados com dietas à base de soja e de caseína. A atividade de inibição de tripsina nos genótipos KTI+LEC+ (Variedade de soja comercial Monarca) foi cerca de 2,8 vezes a do genótipo KTI-LEC- (Isolinha de Monarca livre de KTI e LEC). Os resultados dos valores de PER, NPR e NPU foram melhores na variedade comercial após processamento térmico. A digestibilidade proteica da soja KTI-LEC- foi superior à da variedade comercial. Os valores de digestibilidade para os animais alimentados com dieta à base de farinha de soja KTI-LEC- processada termicamente foram próximos aos observados para animais alimentados com dieta à base de caseína. Verificou-se, também, que os animais alimentados com a soja KTI+LEC+ apresentaram maior nível de alterações na morfologia das microvilosidades intestinais, quando comparados àqueles alimentados com a soja KTI-LEC-. A retirada genética do KTI e LEC teve um impacto positivo na digestibilidade das proteínas da soja, no entanto não melhorou a sua qualidade nutricional.

Soybean seeds contain protein anti-nutritional factors, protease inhibitors, and lectins, which limit their use in human and animal nutrition. Aiming to reduce these factors in soybean seeds, a genotype devoid of Kunitz Trypsin Inhibitor (KTI) and Lectin (LEC) was developed by the Breeding Program for Soybean Quality of the Biotechnology Institute (BIOAGRO) of the Federal University of Viçosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The present work aimed at the biochemical and nutritional characterization of this soybean genotype. The protein nutritional quality and intestinal morphological alterations were determined in Wistar rats fed with diets based on soy flour and casein. The trypsin inhibitory activity in normal genotype KTI+LEC+ was approximately 2.8 times greater than that of the KTI-LEC- genotype. The PER, NPR, and NPU values obtained after thermal treatment were better for the commercial variety than those of the KTI-LEC- genotype. The protein digestibility of the KTI-LEC- soybean was higher than that of the commercial genotype KTI+LEC+. The digestibility values in animals fed with thermally treated KTI-LEC- soybean flour was close to that observed in animals fed with casein. The animals fed with thermally treated KTI+LEC+ soybean flour also presented higher levels of morphological alterations in their intestinal vilosities when compared to those fed with KTI-LEC- soybean flour. It can be concluded that the genetic elimination of KTI and LEC positively impacted soybean protein digestibility, however, there was no improvement on its nutritional value.
