Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o uso de imagens Landsat 8/OLI na diferenciação da idade e na estimativa do volume total de Pinus elliottii, para determinar a aplicabilidade desses dados no planejamento e no manejo da atividade florestal. Foram instaladas 53 unidades amostrais e mensuradas as variáveis dendrométricas de povoamentos comerciais de P. elliottii aos 9 e 10 anos. Os números digitais da imagem foram convertidos à reflectância de superfície e, posteriormente, foram elaborados índices de vegetação. A diferenciação da idade dos povoamentos baseou-se nos valores de reflectância da banda do vermelho e do infravermelho próximo. A análise de regressão das variáveis espectrais foi utilizada na estimativa do volume total. O aumento da idade propiciou um acréscimo da reflectância na banda do infravermelho próximo e uma redução na banda do vermelho. A equação geral de estimativa do volume total para P. elliottii apresentou R2aj de 0,67 com Syx de 31,46 m3 ha-1. Dessa forma, os dados espectrais de média resolução espacial provenientes do satélite Landsat 8/OLI podem ser utilizados na distinção das fases de crescimento dos povoamentos sendo, portanto, passíveis de utilização no planejamento e no manejo adequado da atividade florestal em escala espacial e temporal.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the use of Landsat 8/OLI images to differentiate the age and estimate the total volume of Pinus elliottii, in order to determine the applicability of these data in the planning and management of forest activity. Fifty-three sampling units were installed, and dendrometric variables of 9-and-10-year-old P. elliottii commercial stands were measured. The digital numbers of the image were converted into surface reflectance and, subsequently, vegetation indices were determined. Red and near-infrared reflectance values were used to differentiate the ages of the stands. Regression analysis of the spectral variables was used to estimate the total volume. Increase in age caused an addition in reflectance in the near-infrared band and a decrease in the red band. The general equation for estimating the total volume for P.elliottii had an R2adj of 0.67 with a Syx of 31.46 m3 ha-1. Therefore, the spectral data with medium spatial resolution from the Landsat 8/OLI satellite can be used to distinguish the growth stages of the stands and can, thus, be used in the planning and proper management of forest activity on a spatial and temporal scale.

RESUMO A expansão desordenada das atividades humanas pode acarretar a redução da cobertura vegetal, o aumento de processos erosivos e de áreas impermeabilizadas. O objetivo desse estudo é avaliar a cobertura florestal utilizando método de pesos de evidência a partir de mapas do uso da terra entre o ano 1996 e 2011 na Microrregião da Campanha Ocidental - RS. O banco de dados espaciais foi construído no aplicativo SPRING na versão 5.2.1 a partir de imagens LANDSAT 5, as quais foram georreferenciadas e classificadas. Variáveis geofísicas e socioeconômicas foram incluídas no banco de dados para posterior análise no aplicativo Dinamica EGO na versão 2.2.8. Para a parametrização do modelo probabilístico de análise da dinâmica de mudança da cobertura florestal, foi realizado o cálculo de percentual das mudanças de classes por meio de matrizes de transição; cálculo das faixas para discretização das variáveis contínuas; cálculo dos pesos de evidência (W+); análise da correlação dos pesos entre as variáveis de entrada para todas as transições; simulação de cenários futuros e; validação do mapa final simulado com base no mapa histórico. Esse modelo mostrou-se adequado para o entendimento das variáveis que mais contribuem para as mudanças da cobertura florestal na região. O surgimento de novas áreas florestais foi influenciado pelas condicionantes hipsometria, distância aos areais e renda per capita, enquanto que o desmatamento, pela população rural e distância aos areais.

ABSTRACT The uncontrolled expansion of human activities may lead to a reduction in vegetation cover, an increase in erosion processes and soil sealing. The aim of this study is to examine forest cover using the Weights of evidence method based on land use maps between the years of 1996 and 2011 in the micro-region of the Campanha Ocidental located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). The spatial database was constructed in SPRING software (version 5.2.1) based on LANDSAT 5 images, which were georeferenced and classified. Geophysical and socioeconomic variables were included in the database for further analysis in Dinamica EGO software (version 2.2.8). In order to parameterize the probabilistic model for the analysis of the dynamics of forest cover change, we calculated the percentage of class change through transition matrices; calculated the intervals for discretization of continuous variables; calculated the weights of evidence (W+); analyzed the correlation between the weights of the input variables for all transitions; simulated future scenarios and; validated the simulated final map based on the historical map. This model was adequate for understanding the variables that most contribute to forest cover change in the region. The results showed that the emergence of new forest areas was influenced by hypsometry, distance to sandy lands and per capita income, while deforestation by rural population and distance to the sandy lands.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a utilização de imagens do sensor TM/Landsat 5 na diferenciação de plantios comerciais de Eucalyptus dunnii e Eucalyptus urograndis com diferentes idades. Demarcaram-se parcelas para identificar as duas espécies, em dois períodos distintos (2009 e 2011), a idades de 3 e 5 anos, para E. dunnii, e 2,2 e 4,2 anos para E. urograndis. Avaliaram-se seis bandas do sensor TM/Landsat 5 (B1, B2, B3, B4, B5 e B7) e seis índices de vegetação: razão simples (SR); índice de vegetação por diferença normalizada (NDVI); índice de vegetação ajustado ao solo (Savi)-0,25; Savi-0,5; índice de vegetação por diferença normalizada com uso da banda verde (GNDVI); e índice de umidade na vegetação (MVI). O processamento digital das imagens consistiu de correção geométrica, radiométrica e atmosférica. Os plantios de E. dunnii e E. urograndis foram diferenciados por meio de cinco bandas do Landsat (B2, B3, B4, B5 e B7) e três índices de vegetação (Savi-0,5, Savi-0,25 e GNDVI), no ano de 2009, e por quatro bandas do Landsat (B2, B4, B5 e B7) e seis índices de vegetação (NDVI, SR, Savi-0,5, Savi-0,25, MVI e GNDVI) no ano de 2011. Os dados espectrais extraídos das imagens TM/Landsat 5 são eficazes, tanto para distinguir as espécies de eucalipto como também a mesma espécie em plantios equiâneos.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the use of the TM/Landsat 5 sensor imagens in the differentiation of commercial plantations of Eucalyptus urograndis and Eucalyptus dunnii of different ages. Plots were marked for identification of the two Eucalyptus species, in two different periods (2009 and 2011): for 3- and 5-year-old E. dunnii, and for 2.2- and 4.2-year-old E. urograndis. Evaluations were done for six bands of the TM/Landsat 5 sensor (B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, and B7), and for six vegetation indices - simple ratio (SR); and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI); soil-adjusted vegetation index (Savi)-0.25; Savi-0.5; green NDVI (GNDVI); and the moisture-vegetation index (MVI). Image digital processing consisted of geometric, radiometric, and atmospheric corrections. The plantations of E. dunnii and E. urograndis were distinguished by five bands of Landsat (B2, B3, B4, B5, and B7) and three vegetation indices (Savi-0.5, Savi-0.25, and GNDVI), in 2009, and by four bands of Landsat (B2, B4, B5, and B7) and six vegetation indices (NDVI, SR, Savi-0.5, Savi-0.25, MVI, and GNDVI) in 2011. The spectral data extracted from TM/Landsat 5 images are effective, both to distinguish the species of eucalyptus as well as the same species in even-aged stand.

O trabalho tem como objetivo analisar o comportamento espectral de folhas de Eucalyptus globulus atacadas em quatro diferentes níveis de severidade pelo fungo Mycosphaerella spp. em diferentes posições na copa da árvore, nas quatro estações climáticas, considerando duas regiões do espectro eletromagnético: visível e infravermelho próximo. Foram realizadas coletas de material vegetativo em todas as estações climáticas, em diferentes posições na árvore (base, meio e extrato superior da copa). Em laboratório, as folhas foram classificadas em quatro níveis de severidade (sadio, pouco, medianamente e muito atacado) e posteriormente efetuadas as medidas de reflectância espectral com auxílio de um espectrorradiômetro. O comportamento espectral das folhas de Eucalyptus globulus é característico de acordo com o nível de severidade da doença, diferindo dos demais principalmente em altos níveis de infecção por Mycosphaerella spp. e diferenciam-se principalmente de folhas sadias e de folhas pouco atacadas, em ambas as regiões do espectro eletromagnético, esse comportamento ocorre para as diferentes posições da copa e estações climáticas variando a quantidade de energia refletida. Conclui-se que a reflectância das folhas de Eucalyptus globulus atacadas por Mycosphaerella spp. difere de acordo com a posição na copa da árvore e a estação climática em que foram coletadas e níveis avançados da severidade da doença.

The study aims to analyze the spectral behavior of leaves of Eucalyptus globulus attacked in four different severity levels by Mycosphaerella spp. in different positions in the canopy of the tree in the four seasons, considering two regions of the electromagnetic spectrum: visible and near infrared. The plant material was collected in all seasons, in different positions in the tree (base, middle and top of the canopy extract). In the laboratory, leaves were classified into four levels of severity (healthy, little, medium and heavy fire) and then made measurements of spectral reflectance measured with a spectroradiometer. The spectral behavior of Eucalyptus globules leaves is characteristic according to the severity degree of the disease, differing primarily in the other high levels of infection by Mycosphaerella spp. and differ mainly of healthy leaves and leaves which are little attacked, in both regions of the electromagnetic spectrum, this behavior occurs for different treetop positions and climate seasons, varying the amount of reflected energy. It is concluded that the reflectance of the Eucalyptus globules leaves attacked by Mycosphaerella spp. differs according to the position in the tree crown and the weather station when they were collected and to the advanced levels of disease severity.

Para analisar a transformação temporal da cobertura e do uso das terras de Campanha Ocidental no Rio Grande do Sul, utilizou-se um mosaico de imagens do satélite LANDSAT 5 (sensor Thematic Mapper), que recobre a região de estudo nos períodos de 1985, 1996 e 2011. Essas imagens foram processadas e analisadas no aplicativo SPRING 5.2.1, onde pelo qual o cruzamento dos mapas temáticos, com o auxílio da programação LEGAL (Linguagem Espacial para Geoprocessamento Algébrico), foi realizado. A agricultura e o campo foram as classes que mais influenciaram as mudanças de Uso da Terra.

To analyze the temporal transformation of land cover and use in the microregion of Campanha Ocidental, Rio Grande do Sul state, a mosaic of LANDSAT 5 satellite images (Thematic Mapper sensor) covering the study region was used for the periods of 1985, 1996 and 2011. These images were processed and analyzed in SPRING 5.2.1 application, and the intersection of thematic maps was conducted with the aid of LEGAL (Spatial Language for Algebraic Geoprocessing) program. Agricultural and native areas were the classes that most influenced the changes in Land Use.

Imagens NDVI (Índice de Vegetação por Diferença Normalizada) do sensor Modis foram utilizadas para mapear as classes de uso e cobertura da terra nas Serras do Sudeste e Campanha Meridional do Rio Grande do Sul. A metodologia compreendeu a elaboração de um banco de dados espaciais e a aplicação de técnicas de processamento digital (contraste linear, classificação digital e operações aritméticas) sobre imagens dos satélites Landsat e Terra de diversas datas. Os resultados indicaram que a cobertura florestal passou de 8,6% para 11,6% e 14,3% da área total da microrregião Serras do Sudeste, entre os anos 2000, 2004 e 2008. Na Campanha Meridional, a expansão da cobertura florestal passou de 11,1% para 11,2% e 11,5% da área total no mesmo período. Conclui-se que imagens MOD13Q1, de baixa resolução espacial (250 m), podem ser usadas em grandes áreas para mapear florestas e os demais temas adequadamente.

The NDVI (Vegetation Index Normalized Difference) Modis sensor was used to map the classes of land use and land cover of Serras do Sudeste and Campanha Meridional of Rio Grande do Sul. The methodology included the development of a spatial database and the application of digital signal processing techniques (linear contrast, digital classification and arithmetic operations) on Landsat satellite images and Terra of various dates. The results show that forest cover increased from 8.6% to 11.6% and 14.3% of the total area of Serras do Sudeste, between the years 2000, 2004 and 2008. In the Campanha Meridional, the expansion of forest cover increased from 11.1% to 11.2% and 11.5% of the total area in the same period. It is concluded that images MOD13Q1, low spatial resolution (250m), may be used to make maps of forest and other land use properly, in extensive areas.

RESUMO Modelos relacionando respostas espectrais com parâmetros biofísicos visam estimar variáveis, tais como volume de madeira, sem a necessidade de avaliações constantes em campo. Objetivou-se desenvolver modelos estimadores de volume de madeira a partir de imagens TM do Landsat 5, com base em dados de inventário florestal regional. A imagem foi georreferenciada e convertida para imagem reflectância espectral. Em seguida, foram geradas as imagens índice NDVI (índice de vegetação da diferença normalizada) e SR (razão simples). Os valores das reflectâncias das bandas (TM1, TM2, TM3 e TM4) e dos índices (NDVI e SR) foram relacionados com os volumes de madeira. As maiores correlações com volume foram com os índices NDVI e SR. A seleção de variáveis foi feita pelo método Stepwise, o qual retornou três modelos de regressão como significativos para explicar a variação em volume. Por fim, selecionou-se o modelo com melhor ajuste (volume = -830,95 + 46,05 × (SR) + 107,47 × (TM2)), o qual foi aplicado sobre a imagem Landsat onde os pixels passaram a representar o volume estimado em m³/ha nas unidades de produção de Eucalyptus sp. Este modelo, significativo ao nível de 95 % de confiança, explica 68 % da variação de volume de madeira.

ABSTRACT Models relating spectral answers with biophysical parameters aim estimate variables, such as wood volume, without the necessity of frequent field measurements. The objective was to develop models to estimate wood volume by Landsat 5 TM images, supported by regional forest inventory data. The image was georeferenced and converted to spectral reflectance. After, the images-index NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) and SR (Simple Ratio) was generated. The reflectance values of both spectral bands (TM1, TM2, TM3 e TM4 ) and indices (NDVI and SR) was related with the wood volume. The biggest correlation with volume was with the NDVI and SR indices. The variables selection was made by Stepwise method, which returned three regression models as significant to explain the variation in volume. Finally, the best fitted model was selected (volume = -830,95 + 46,05 × (SR) + 107,47 × (TM2)), which was applied on the Landsat image where the pixels had started to represent the estimated volume in m³/ha on the Eucalyptus sp. production units. This model, significant at 95 % confidence level, explains 68 % of the wood volume variation.

Os padrões de uso da terra e a utilização dos recursos naturais motivam atualmente muitas pesquisas no campo da simulação de cenários em diversas regiões do mundo. Igualmente, o presente trabalho pretende simular o cenário de florestas nativas do Rio Grande do Sul a fim de localizar e quantificar em um mapa a evolução das florestas deste Estado para o ano de 2020. Para tanto, foram classificados os padrões de uso da terra em imagens dos satélites referentes aos anos de 1988, 1998 e 2007. O mapa da evolução florestal, ao ser cruzado com vários mapas temáticos de aspectos físicos e humanos, definiu, respectivamente, a matriz de transição Markov e os pesos de evidências, ambos requisitos na calibração do modelo estocástico. Como resultado, a simulação da paisagem florestal do Rio Grande do Sul para o ano de 2020 apresentou um aumento de áreas de floresta nativa em quase todas as regiões do Estado com mais de 5.113km².

Land use patterns and the potential misuse of our planet's natural resources have recently called the attention of an increasing worldwide number of studies in the area of scenario simulation. In this context, the present study aims at simulating the native forest scenario of the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, for the 2020, by locating and quantifying in a map the evolution of forest in this state. Land use patterns were classified based on satellite images from the years 1988, 1998 and 2007. The forest evolution map was cross-checked with several thematic maps of physical and human aspects and defined the Markov transition matrix and the evidence weights, both of which are requirements for the calibration of the stochastic model. The simulation of Rio Grande do Sul's forest landscape for the year 2020 showed an increase of the native forest in almost all regions of the state, covering an area of more than 5,113km².

RESUMO Leituras de reflectância em folhas de árvores de bordadura e de interior de um povoamento florestal de Eucalyptus grandis, no município de São Pedro das Missões - RS, foram analisadas nas regiões do espectro eletromagnético visível e do infravermelho próximo, utilizando-se espectrorradiometria. A área foi dividida em duas partes: bordadura e centro do povoamento. Para a coleta de material, a copa das árvores foi dividida em três partes (superior, média e inferior), de forma a diferenciar as posições de coleta de folhas, em cada uma das áreas. Foram amostradas três árvores em cada área, totalizando seis árvores, sendo que para cada árvore foram coletadas 60 folhas isoladas, 20 em cada posição. As leituras de reflectância foram realizadas através do espectrorradiômetro FieldSpec(r)3 e os resultados finais foram segmentados nas bandas espectrais do visível e do infravermelho próximo. A análise estatística valeu-se do teste Tukey HSD, para comparação das médias da região do visível, que de acordo com a ANOVA apresentaram diferenças significativas. Conclui-se que as classes indicadas de coleta de folhas para análise espectrorradiométrica na região do visível são preferencialmente a 5 (árvore de centro, leitura na parte mediana) e a 3 (árvore de bordadura, leitura parte superior).

ABSTRACT Reflectance readings in border and inner tree leaves in a Eucalyptus grandis stand, in São Pedro das Missões, Rio Grande do Sul state, were analyzed in the regions of the visible electromagnetic spectrum and the nearby infrared, by using spectrum radiometry. The area was divided in two parts: border and center stands. In order to collect the material, the crown was divided in three parts (superior, medium and inferior), so that it would be possible to differentiate the positions of leaf collections in each area. Three trees were sampled in each area, adding up to six trees, for each tree, 60 isolated leaves were collected, 20 in each position. The reflectance readings were carried out through FieldSpec(r)3 spectrum radiometer and the final results were segmented in the visible and nearby infrared spectral bands. The statistical analysis was made on the basis of several tests, among them Tukey HSD test, in order to compare the averages of the visible region, which, according to ANOVA, present significant differences. It is concluded that the collecting indicating class of leaves for the spectrum radiometric analysis in the visible region are preferably the 5 one (tree in the center, reading in the medium part) and #3 one (border tree, reading superior part).

Banco de dados geográficos constitui-se em uma referência importante para o planejamento territorial, principalmente quando as informações regionais disponíveis são muito restritas. Os objetivos deste estudo foram quantificar e avaliar o uso e a ocupação das terras de 35 municípios do sul do Rio Grande do Sul. Instrumentais envolvendo geoprocessamento e sensoriamento remoto foram utilizados para classificar digitalmente imagens do satélite Landsat. Foi elaborado um banco de dados geográficos com informações referentes às classes de uso e à ocupação das terras (pastagem natural e cultivada, floresta natural, reflorestamento, banhado e alagadiço, dunas e areia; lâmina d'água; agricultura/solo exposto e área urbana). Os dados foram analisados por município e integrados na forma de instrumentos públicos de gestão territorial (Conselho Regional de Desenvolvimento da Região Sul, Associação dos Municípios da Zona Sul e Bacia Hidrográfica da Lagoa Mirim). Pastagens e agricultura foram as classes mais expressivas e corresponderam a 83% dos valores médios dos municípios. As demais classes não ultrapassaram 5% de ocupação. A análise espacial dos dados e as informações geradas possibilitam a compreensão da dinâmica ocupacional e permitem subsidiar a ordenação do espaço geográfico e o desenvolvimento sustentável da região.

Geographical data base consist in an important reference for the territorial planning, mainly when the available regional information are restricted. This study objectified to quantify and evaluate the land use and occupation of 35 municipalities of the South of the Rio Grande do Sul state. Remote Sensing and Geoprocessing techniques were utilized to classify digital image of the Landsat satellite. Geographical data base were elaborated with concerning information the classes of use and land occupation (natural and cultivated pastures, natural forest, reforestation, swampy and drenched, dunes and sand, water, agriculture, uncover soil and urban areas). The data were analyzed by municipality and integrated in form of public instruments of territorial magement the for the Regional Committee of development of the South Region, for the Municipalities Association of the South Zone of the RS State and for the Lagoa Mirim Water Basin. Pastures and agriculture were the classes most expressive and corresponded 83% of the average securities of the municipalities, being the other classes less expressive (<5%). Spatial analysis data and the information generated make possible the understanding of the occupational dynamics and subsidize the ordenation of the geographical space and the sustainable development of the region.

Este trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar uma proposta metodológica para o levantamento e análise dos recursos florestais dos povoamentos naturais e implantados, obtido através da utilização de técnicas de geoprocessamento e sensoriamento remoto e localizados na carta topográfica SH. 22-Y-A, Cachoeira do Sul, RS. Para tal, utilizaram-se imagens de satélites associadas ao sistema de informações geográficas, processadas por técnicas de classificação digital e funções matemáticas. Dessa forma, realizou-se o levantamento e a quantificação das diferentes bases temáticas. As variáveis e bases temáticas foram obtidas através das imagens de satélite, trabalho de campo, carta topográfica e cruzamentos geoespaciais, obtendo o uso da terra, espécie implantada, área ocupada, além da localização dos povoamentos florestais quanto à declividade, tipo de solo, rede hidrográfica e disponibilidade viária. Assim, essas informações permitiram analisar a situação da cobertura florestal da região de estudo, fornecendo subsídios ao gerenciamento dos recursos florestais e a preservação do meio ambiente.

This study presents a methodology for survey and analysis of the forestal resources of natural and implanted populating located in the topographic leaf SH.22Y-A, Cachoeira do Sul, RS, (Brazil) by using geoprocessing and remote sensing technics. For this purpose, the Geographic Information Systems, associated to satellite images, processed by digital classification and mathematics’ functions were used. In so doing data gathering and quantification of different thematic bases of the studied area. Variables and thematic bases eere accomplished the satellite images, assessed in the field and topographic maps and the geospacials crossings obtaining the land use, implanted species, taken area, besides the localization of the forest concerning slope, edaphic, hydrographic and road availability. Thus, these information obtained by comparing these variables, made it possible to analyze the forestal cover of the study area, supplying subsidy to the forestal resources management and the environmental preservation.

A utilização de matéria-prima de origem florestal aumentou significativamente nas últimas décadas. A busca por alta produtividade concretizou-se com a introdução de espécies exóticas, principalmente Eucalyptus sp. e Pinus sp. Neste trabalho avaliou-se a precisão da classificação digital obtida no levantamento de povoamentos florestais implantados e naturais da área da carta de Cachoeira do Sul - RS, utilizando técnicas de geoprocessamento, sensoriamento remoto, SIG (sistema de informação geográfica) e GPS (sistema de posicionamento global). Verificou-se que a área é ocupada por vegetação natural (35,54%), Pinus sp. (1,89%) e Eucalyptus sp. (0,77%), cuja precisão na classificação supervisionada digital foi: Exatidão global (85,23%), Kappa (84,90%) e Tau (77,74%). Concluiu-se que os três índices de acurácia podem ser utilizados, apesar de os índices Kappa e Tau mostrarem-se mais consistentes.

The use of forest raw products has increased significantly in the last decades. The search for high productivity has led to the introduction of exotic species, mainly Eucalyptus sp. and Pinus sp. This work evaluated the precision of classification obtained from surveying forest implemented and natural stands in the region of the map area of Cachoeira do Sul - RS, using geoprocessing techniques, remote sensing, GIS (geographic information system) and GPS (global positioning system). It was verified that the area is occupied by natural vegetation (35.54%), Pinus sp. (1.89%) and Eucalyptus sp. (0.77%), with the following values precision in the supervised digital classification: Global precision (85.23%), Kappa (84.90%) and Tau (77.74%). It was concluded that the three accuracy indexes can be used, although Kappa and Tau were more consistent.

ABSTRACT San Pedro of Ycuamandyyú is located in the northwest of the oriental region of Paraguay. The objectives of this work were the elaboration and the analysis of the map of the land use for the planning of forest activities in the place, for which were used techniques of cartography, remote sensing and (GIS) Geographical Information’s Systems, that facilitated the analysis of information coming from satellites images LANDSAT TM 5, topographical chart and (GPS) Global Position System, that allowed the processing of data in the program Idrisi 2.0 for the map manufactoring that facilitated the analysis on the situation of the land use in the municipality. Some predominant categories were distinguished as the high meadows or natural fields, agricultural use and low meadows, being the forest covering less than 25%. As general conclusion the municipality presents enough areas of natural fields and agricultural use that could be used for reforestation activities, lither native or exotic species of rapid growth with the purpose of obtaining values of forest covering in balance with the other categories of land use.

RESUMEN El municipio de San Pedro de Ycuamandyyú está ubicado en el noroeste de la región oriental del Paraguay. Los objetivos de este trabajo constituyen la elaboración y el análisis del mapa del uso de la tierra para la planificación de actividades forestales en la zona, para los cuales se utilizaron técnicas de cartografía, sensores remotos y (SIG) Sistemas de Informaciones Geográficas, que posibilitaron el análisis de informaciones provenientes de imágenes satelitales LANDSAT TM 5, de cartas topográficas y de (GPS) Sistema de Posicionamiento Global, que permitió el procesamiento de datos en el programa Idrisi 2.0 para la confección de un mapa que posibilitó el análisis sobre la situación del uso de la tierra en el municipio. Se distinguió categorías predominantes como praderas altas o campos naturales, uso agropecuario y praderas bajas o bañados, siendo la cobertura forestal con valor inferior al 25%. Se concluyó que el municipio presenta bastantes áreas de campos naturales y uso agropecuario que podrían utilizarse para actividades de reforestación, sea con especies nativas o exóticas de rápido crecimiento con la finalidad de obtener valores de cobertura forestal en equilibrio con las demás categorías de uso de la tierra.

O objetivo desse trabalho foi verificar a viabilidade do uso de um Sistema de Informações Geográficas (SIG) e a imagem de satélite para a análise do uso atual da terra e localização de áreas onde possam estar ocorrendo conflitos entre capacidade e uso do solo, na microbacia hidrográfica do Arroio do Meio. Foram utilizadas técnicas de geoprocessamento, como álgebra entre mapas, consulta ao banco de dados e reclassificação de imagens. Uma microbacia foi escolhida como objeto deste estudo, por ser considerada por muitos autores como sendo uma das melhores unidades para o planejamento e desenvolvimento sócioeconômico dos habitantes do meio rural. Na microbacia estudada, foram encontrados 555ha cobertos com florestas, compreendendo 24% da área total. As lavouras com área de 1.314ha ocupam a maior parte da microbacia (56%). Os campos de pastagens cobrem 184ha, ou seja, 8% da área total. As áreas alagadas representam 11% da área da microbacia, tendo respectivamente 265ha. Foram detectados ainda, 31ha sombreados (1%) onde não se determinou com exatidão o uso da terra. Nas áreas com declividade superior a 47%, foram detectados 32ha sem cobertura de florestas, perfazendo 1,4% da área da microbacia. Em declives superiores a 30%, existem 71ha (3%) sendo usados para a agricultura. A área ocupada com Chernossolos e Neossolos Litólicos, unidade de mapeamento Ciríaco-Charrua em declividade maior que 30% sem cobertura florestal é de 14ha (0,6%). De acordo com a declividade e o solo, as áreas de conflito alcançam 5% da área total, o que demonstra que, na maior parte da microbacia, a terra está sendo usada de acordo com sua capacidade.

Geographic Information System (GIS) and satellite image were tested to analyze the current land use and automatic localization of areas where conflicts between present land use and land capability occurence, in Arroio do Meio watershed. Geoprocessing techniques map algebra, consultation database and image reclassification were used. The watershed object of this study was chosen because it is considered by many authors, the best unit for social and economic planning and development of population of rural areas. In the studied microbasin: 555ha was covered by forests (24% of the total area). Cultivated crops occupy 1.314ha, 56% of the microbasin. Glassland covers 184ha (8% of the total area). The flooded areas represent 11% of the area of the microbasin, with 265ha. The use of 31ha could not be detected with accuracy due to shadowing. In areas with steepness above 47%, 32ha were detected without forest cover, totalizing 1,4% of the area of the microbasin. With slopes above 30%, 71ha (3%), are used for agriculture. Areas with Phaeozems and leptosols (Ciríaco-Charrua mapping units) with slopes above 30% and without forest coverage performe 14ha (0,6%). Areas with conflict use reached only 5% of the total area, indicating that in most of the microbasin, the land is being used in agreement with its capability.

RESUMO O presente trabalho apresenta o desenvolvimento metodológico de um sistema imageador, utilizando câmaras de vídeo convencionais e filtros espectrais (verde, vermelho e infravermelho próximo) como sensor não-convencional. Esse sensor possui como finalidade realizar mapeamento de áreas florestais. Para tal finalidade, foi realizado um estudo do espectro de cada filtro utilizado bem como o comportamento por ele apresentado nos diversos tipos de alvos. Como resultados, salienta-se a importância da obtenção das imagens quase que em tempo real, custos operacionais baixos, praticidade e operacionalidade do sistema bem como a agilidade de obtenção das imagens, e como desvantagem apresenta o comportamento espectral dos filtros utilizados se sobreporem e a baixa resolução espacial das câmaras VHS, aspectos esses que podem ser solucionados utilizando-se outros tipos de filtros nos mais diversos comprimentos de onda, e a utilização de câmaras S-VHS.

ABSTRACT The scope of this paper is the methodological development of an imaging system, which uses conventional video cameras and spectral filters (green, red, and near infrared) as non- conventional sensor. The sensor has the purpose of forest mapping. For that purpose, a spectral study of each filter was carried out as well as a study of filters' behavior in different types of targets. As a result, it is highlight the importance of obtaining images in almost real time, low operational costs, practicality and operationality of the system, as well as the agility to obtain images.As disadvantages, the system shows the overlaping of the filters' spectral behavior and the low spatial resolution of VHS cameras. Both of these factors can be solved by using other types of filters with different wavelengths and by using S-VHS cameras.
