ABSTRACT Wild birds have great prominence in the transmission of diseases to humans, mainly due to their ease of access to human populations, raising concerns about the potential impact of that proximity on public health. The present study reports ARV and PBV occurrence in wild birds from an environmental protection area in the Amazon biome, in Pará state, Brazil. We obtained 155 fecal specimens from 47 species of wild birds for RNA extraction, ARV and PBV detection utilizing molecular methods, nucleotide sequencing, and phylogenetic analysis. ARV prevalence was 0.6% (1/155), being positive in an individual of Myrmotherula longipennis, and PBV prevalence was 1.29% (2/155), affecting two individuals of Guira guira. The PBV strains were assigned to genogroup I based on phylogenetic analysis, and they shared a strong phylogenetic link with strains isolated from different geographic locations. The ARV strain was more closely related to strains that had previously circulated in the same region. The presence of ARV and PBV in this habitat suggests that infection cycles of these agents occur naturally in the wild ecosystem, potentially triggering transmission events between bird species and humans. This is the first study on ARV detection in wild birds in Brazil and the first report on the occurrence of PBV in wild Guira guira. Additional studies are required to determine the epidemiology, origin, evolution, and emergence of new potentially pathogenic viruses in the Amazon.

RESUMO As aves silvestres têm grande destaque na transmissão de doenças ao homem, principalmente pela facilidade de acesso à população humana, levantando preocupações sobre o potencial impacto dessa proximidade no contexto da saúde pública. O presente estudo relata a ocorrência de ARV e PBV em aves silvestres de uma área de proteção ambiental no bioma Amazônico. Obtivemos 155 espécimes fecais de 47 espécies de aves silvestres, que foram submetidos a extração de RNA, detecção de ARV e PBV por técnicas moleculares, sequenciamento nucleotídico e análise filogenética. A prevalência de infecção por ARV foi 0,6% (1/155), sendo positivo em um indivíduo de Myrmotherula longipennis, e a prevalência de PBV foi 1,29% (2/155), afetando dois insdivíduos de Guira guira. A análise filogenética agrupou as cepas de PBV no genogrupo I, mostrando intensa relação filogenética com cepas isoladas de outras regiões geográficas. A cepa de ARV esteve mais relacionada filogeneticamente a cepas previamente circulantes na mesma região. Este é o primeiro estudo sobre detecção de ARV em aves silvestres no Brasil e o primeiro relato sobre a ocorrência de PBV em Guira guira. A circulação de ARV e PBV nesse ambiente demonstra que os ciclos desses agentes estão ocorrendo de forma natural no ecossistema silvestre, o que pode desencadear possíveis eventos de transmissão entre as espécies aviárias e humanos. Estudos adicionais são necessários para determinar a epidemiologia, origem, evolução e surgimento de novos vírus potencialmente patogênicos na Amazônia.

Abstract This study's objective was to evaluate the effect of storage time (-18 ± 1 °C/60 days) under colorimetric, physicochemical, and lipid oxidation parameters in sheep meat sausages with oil pre-emulsified linseed to replace animal fat. Five formulations have been developed; the control sausage (0%) and four fat replacement levels with pre-emulsified linseed oil: 10, 20, 30, and 40%. Color analysis s (L *, a * and b *), determination of the total colorimetric difference (CD), water activity (Aw), pH, moisture, water retention capacity (WRC), and lipid oxidation through the number of substances reactive to thiobarbituric acid (TBARS), where all analysis were determined at intervals of 0, 20, 40 and 60 days of storage. The treatment, the storage time, and the interaction between these factors significantly affected (P < .0001) most of the studied parameters. The TBARS values were affected by the treatment (P < .0001) and by the storage days (P < .0001), with an interaction between these factors (P < .0001). However, it is suggested that the replacement of animal fat with pre-emulsified linseed oil was a viable strategy without causing detrimental effects on the product's quality during the storage period.

RESUMO Diante da transição na estrutura energética mundial, com o deslocamento do consumo dos combustíveis fósseis para fonte renováveis e limpas, registra-se um aumento da demanda por biomassa florestal para fins energéticos, em especial os pellets de madeira, e as importações têm crescido nos últimos anos. Logo, este artigo analisou a concentração mundial das importações de pellets, de 2012 a 2018. Os dados de importações de pellets foram obtidos da Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations – FAO e para mensurar a concentração foram utilizados os indicadores: Razão de Concentração [CR(k)], Índice de Hirschman-Herfindal (HHI) Índice de Entropia de Theil (E), Coeficiente de desigualdade de Gini (G) e o Índice de Hall-Tideman (HTI). Os resultados apontaram um crescimento de 16,67% a.a. da importação mundial de pellets, saindo de 8,76 milhões toneladas (t), em 2012, para 22,15 milhões de t em 2018. Quanto aos índices de concentração, o CR(k) indicou concentração muito alta para os países e alta nos subcontinentes. O HHI apresentou concentração alta para os continentes e subcontinentes e uma concentração moderada para os países. A Entropia e o HTI corroboraram as análises encontradas no HHI. O G apontou forte desigualdade para todos os níveis territoriais e apresentou tendências de redução na desigualdade a partir de 2015. A redução da concentração, nos últimos anos de estudo, encontra relação com a expansão e a difusão tecnológica de conversão energética da biomassa densificada, o que torna o combustível mais acessível.

ABSTRACT Faced with the transition in the global energy structure with the shift in consumption of fossil fuels to renewable and clean sources, there has been an increase in the demand for forest biomass for energy purposes, especially wood pellets, and imports have grown in recent years. Therefore, this study analyzed the world concentration of pellet imports from 2012 to 2018. Data on pellet imports were obtained from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the following indicators were used to measure the concentration: Concentration Ratio [CR(k)], Hirschman-Herfindal Index (HHI), Theil Entropy Index (E), Gini Inequality Coefficient (G) and the Hall-Tideman Index (HTI). The results showed a growth of 16.67% p.a. of global pellet imports, from 8.76 million tons (t) in 2012 to 22.15 million tons in 2018. The CR(k) indicated very high concentration for countries and high in the subcontinents. The HHI showed a high concentration for continents and subcontinents and a moderate concentration for countries. Entropy and HTI corroborated the analyzes found in the HHI. The G pointed out strong inequality for all territorial levels and showed trends towards a reduction in inequality as of 2015. The reduction in the concentration in the final years of study is related to the expansion and technological diffusion of energy conversion of the densified biomass, which makes this fuel more affordable.

Resumo Este artigo analisou o padrão de especialização e localização do Valor Bruto da Produção (VBP) dos produtos madeireiros nativos nas microrregiões da Paraíba de 1994 a 2017. A coleta de dados realizou-se a partir das informações disponíveis da Produção da Extração Vegetal e da Silvicultura (PEVS) do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE). Os indicadores empregados foram: o quociente locacional (QL), o coeficiente locacional (CL), o coeficiente de redistribuição (CRED), o coeficiente de associação geográfica (Cag), o coeficiente de especialização (CE) e o coeficiente de reestruturação (Cr). Os resultados evidenciaram que a lenha foi o principal produto madeireiro extraído nas microrregiões da Paraíba; apenas a microrregião do Serra de Teixeira apresentou relevância na extração de madeira em tora; a lenha foi o produto madeireiro que apresentou maior redistribuição; nos anos finais da análise as microrregiões do Litoral Norte e do Cariri Ocidental foram as mais especializadas, com ênfase na extração de lenha e as microrregiões do Litoral Norte, Cariri Ocidental, João Pessoa e Litoral Sul foram as que apresentaram maior mudança no padrão de extração dos produtos madeireiros com relação a 1994. A partir deste estudo é possível a orientação de políticas públicas que promovam o extrativismo vegetal de forma renovável para o suprimento da demanda energética e que possibilite o desenvolvimento de regiões.

Abstract This article analyzed the pattern of the Gross Value Production (VBP) specialization and location of native wood products in Paraíba’s microregions, from 1994 to 2017. The data collection was carried out from the available information of the Production of Plant Extraction and Silviculture (PEVS) of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The indicators used were the locational quotient (QL), the locational coefficient (CL), the redistribution coefficient (CRED), the geographic association coefficient (Cag), the specialization coefficient (CE) and the restructuring coefficient (Cr). The results showed that firewood was the main wood product extracted in Paraíba’s microregions; only the microregion of Serra de Teixeira presented relevance in the extraction of wood in log; wood was the logging product that presented the greatest redistribution; in the final years of the analysis, the micro-regions of Litoal Norteand Cariri Ocidental were the most specialized, with emphasis on the extraction of firewood and the microregions of the Litoral Norte, Cariri Ocidental, João Pessoa and Litoral Sul were the ones that presented the greatest change in the extraction pattern of the products in relation to 1994. From this study, it is possible to guide public policies that promote renewable plant extraction to supply the energy demand and enable the development of regions.

Abstract This experiment aimed to compare at day seven after ovulation, the protein profile of uterine fluid in cyclic mares with mares infused two days before with Day 13 conceptus fragments. Experimental animals were ten healthy cyclic mares, examined daily to detect ovulation (Day 0) as soon as estrus was confirmed. On day seven, after ovulation, uterine fluid was collected, constituting the Cyclic group (n = 10). The same mares were examined in the second cycle until ovulation was detected. On day five, after ovulation, fragments from a previously collected concepti were infused into each mare's uterus. Two days after infusion, uterine fluid was collected, constituting the Fragment group (n = 10). Two-dimensional electrophoresis technique processed uterine fluid samples. A total of 373 spots were detected. MALDI-TOF/TOF and NanoUHPLC-QTOF mass spectrometry identified twenty spots with differences in abundance between the Cyclic and Fragment group. Thirteen proteins were identified, with different abundance between groups. Identified proteins may be related to embryo-maternal communication, which involves adhesion, nutrition, endothelial cell proliferation, transport, and immunological tolerance. In conclusion, conceptus fragments signalized changes in the protein profile of uterine fluid seven days after ovulation in comparison to the observed at Day 7 in the same cyclic mares.

RESUMO Este artigo analisou a disparidade do valor bruto de produção dos produtos madeireiros do extrativismo vegetal das mesorregiões da Paraíba, Brasil, no período de 1994 a 2017. Os indicadores empregados foram: o quociente locacional (QL), o coeficiente locacional (CL), o coeficiente de redistribuição (CRED), o coeficiente de associação geográfica (Cag), o coeficiente de especialização (CE) e o coeficiente de reestruturação (Cr). Os resultados apontaram que a lenha foi o principal produto madeireiro e a mesorregião Sertão paraibano maior relevância, elevando a disparidade entre as regiões; o CRED apontou maior mudança para o carvão vegetal; a Mata Paraibana foi mais especializada em lenha e a mesorregião da Borborema apresentou a maior reestruturação em todos os períodos estudados. O estudo evidenciou que o VBP dos produtos madeireiros nativos ocorreu, principalmente, nas regiões mais áridas do estado para atender a demanda energética local e circunvizinha, com destaque aos segmentos de cerâmica vermelha e gesso.

ABSTRACT This paper analyzed the disparity in the gross production value of timber products from the state of Paraíba, Brazil, between 1994 and 2017. The indicators used were: the locational quotient (Lq), the coefficient of location (Cl), the coefficient of redistribution (Cred), the coefficient of geographic association (Cga), the coefficient of specialization (Cs) and the coefficient of restructuring (Cr). The results obtained indicated that wood was the main timber product extracted in the state of Paraíba, with the Sertão paraibano region being of greater relevance, increasing the disparity between the regions; the Cred pointed out greater change for charcoal extraction; the Mata Paraibana region was the most specialized region, especially for wood extraction; and the Borborema region presented the greatest restructuring in all studied periods. The study evidenced that the extraction of wood products mainly occurred in the more arid regions of the state with the purpose of population subsistence or industrial use, especially in the red ceramics and plaster segments for which wood can be used to generate heat and thermoelectric power.

ABSTRACT This study analyzed the regional concentration of the gross production value (GPV) of firewood in Paraíba from 1994 to 2014. It measured the concentration by means of the Concentration Ratio [CR(k)] of the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI), Theil’s Entropy (E), the Hall-Tindelman Index (HTI), and the Gini Index (G). From the analyses performed, it was concluded that there was growth in the GPV of firewood in Paraíba from R$ 2.59 million to R$ 10.39 million (in current terms). The CR(4) and CR(8) of the municipalities indicated low concentration; the CR(4) in the microregions presented a moderately low concentration, and the CR(8) had moderately high concentration. The HHI of the municipalities and microregions has a competitive market, and the HHI of the mesoregions has moderate concentration; E corroborated the evidence of HHI; HTI presented low regional concentration; G showed medium to strong inequality for mesoregions, weak to medium in microregions and zero to weak in municipalities.

RESUMO O carvão vegetal tem uma importância econômica, social e ambiental, pois além de fonte de energia, gera emprego e renda no meio rural. Portanto, conhecer o seu mercado é fundamental para as tomadas de decisões daqueles segmentos que dependem desta matéria prima. Este trabalho analisou a concentração regional da produção de carvão vegetal no estado da Paraíba, Brasil, no período de 1994 a 2016. Os dados empregados para mensurar a concentração regional da produção (em toneladas) do carvão vegetal nativo da Paraíba foram obtidos no Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), no período de 1994 a 2016. Os indicadores utilizados foram a Razão de Concentração [CR(k)], o Índice de Herfindahl-Hirschman (HHI), o índice de entropia de Theil (E) e o Índice de Gini (G). Os principais resultados mostram que as mesorregiões da Borborema e do Sertão Paraibano se concentram a produção de carvão vegetal da Paraíba. O CR(k) dos municípios teve concentração baixa a moderadamente baixa e para as microrregiões uma concentração moderadamente alto a alto; o HHI e E mostraram tendências de desconcentração apresentando de mercados competitivos; o G mostrou em média uma desigualdade forte a muito forte para os municípios e microrregiões. Conclui-se que a concentração da produção do carvão vegetal nos níveis regionais não é concentrada, mesmo apresentando concentração moderada nos índices parciais [CR(k)] para as microrregiões da Paraíba.

ABSTRACT Charcoal has an economic, social and environmental importance, because in addition to being a source of energy, it generates employment and income in the rural environment. Therefore, knowing your market is fundamental for the decision-making of those segments that depend on this raw material. This work analyzed the regional concentration of charcoal production in the state of Paraíba, Brazil, from 1994 to 2016. The data used to measure the regional production concentration (in tons) of native Paraíba charcoal were obtained from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) from 1994 to 2016. The indicators used were the Concentration Ratio [CR(k)], the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI), Theil's entropy index (E) and the Gini Index (G). The main results show that the mesorregions of Borborema and Sertão Paraibano present concentrations in charcoal production from Paraíba. The CR(k) of the municipalities had a low to moderately low concentration and a moderately high to a high concentration for the microregions; the HHI and E showed deconcentration tendencies from competitive markets; the G showed strong to very strong inequality for the municipalities and microregions on average. It is concluded that the concentration of charcoal production at regional levels is not concentrated, even though it presents a moderate concentration in the partial indices [CR(k)] for the Paraíba microregions.

RESUMO Este artigo analisou a concentração regional da produção da lenha nativa da Paraíba, no período de 1994 a 2014. Os dados da quantidade produzida de lenha nativa foram extraídos da produção da extração vegetal e da silvicultura disponíveis no Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística. A concentração regional foi determinada por meio dos indicadores: Razão de Concentração [CR(k)], Índice de Herfindahl-Hirschman (HHI), Entropia de Theil (E), Índice Hall-Tindelman (HTI) e o coeficiente de Gini (G). A partir das análises realizadas neste estudo, conclui-se que no período estudado houve uma redução da produção de lenha na Paraíba, em virtude da atuação dos órgãos fiscalizadores e ambientais, passando de 1.173.383 m3, em 1994, para 484.142 m3, em 2014; o CR(k) da produção de lenha na Paraíba para as 4 maiores microrregiões apresentou-se concentração moderadamente baixa e para as 8 maiores microrregiões caracterizou-se como moderadamente alta; para os municípios indicou concentração baixa e mercado competitivo; o HHI para os municípios e microrregiões demonstrou baixa concentração indicando um mercado altamente competitivo. Já às mesorregiões caracterizou concentração moderada para produção de lenha; o E mostrou comportamentos semelhantes entre municípios e microrregiões demonstrando baixa concentração. A mesorregião teve pouca concorrência entre as regiões produtoras de lenha inferindo concentração moderada, corroborando assim o HHI; o HTI também apresentou baixa concentração nos níveis regionais (municípios, microrregiões e mesorregiões), indicando concorrência elevada como os demais indicadores; o G mostrou desigualdade de nula a fraca para os municípios, obteve desigualdade fraca a média nas microrregiões, e desigualdade média a forte nas mesorregiões.

ABSTRACT This paper analyzed the regional concentration of firewood production in Paraíba state, from 1994 to 2014. The data on the quantity of native firewood produced were extracted from the production of the vegetal extraction and forestry available at the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística). The regional concentration was determined through the indicators: Concentration Ratio [CR(k)], Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI), of Theil’s Entropy index (E), the Hall-Tindelman Index (HTI) and the Gini Index (G). From the analyzes carried out in this study, it was concluded that during the period studied there was a reduction in the production of firewood in Paraíba state, due to the performance of the inspection and environmental agencies, from 1,173,383 m3 in 1994 to 484,142 m3 in 2014; The CR(k) of the firewood production in Paraíba for the 4 largest microregions presented a moderately low concentration and for the 8 largest microregions it was characterized as moderately high; for municipalities demonstrated low concentration and competitive market; the HHI for the municipalities and microregions showed low concentration indicating a highly competitive market. In the mesoregions, there was a moderate concentration of firewood production; and E showed similar behaviors between municipalities and microregions showing low concentration. The mesoregion had little competition among the firewood regions, inferring moderate concentration, thus corroborating HHI; HTI also presented low concentration at regional levels (municipalities, microregions and mesoregions), indicating high competition as the other indicators; the G showed inequality from zero to weak for the municipalities, it obtained weak inequality in the microregions, and medium to strong inequality in the mesoregions.

RESUMO: O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar a exposição e a infecção de cavalos baixadeiro e carrapatos por Rickettsia spp. na micro-região da Baixada Maranhense do Estado Maranhão. Um total de 258 cavalos foi testado pelo ensaio de Imunofluorescência Indireta (IFI) para Rickettsia rickettsii, Rickettsia amblyommatis e Rickettsia bellii. Deste total, 58,91% (152/258) foram sororreativos para pelo menos uma espécie de Rickettsia sp., e 85,27% cavalos estavam infestados por uma ou mais espécies de carrapatos identificados como Dermacentor nitens (93,63%), Amblyomma cajennense sensu stricto (4,55%) e Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus (1,82%). Estes carrapatos foram submetidos à extração de DNA e testados pela reação em cadeia pela polimerase (PCR) alvejando os genes citrato sintase (gltA) e o de proteína de membrana externa de 190kDa (ompA). Três espécimes de A. cajennense s.s. foram positivos para Rickettsia amblyommatis. As sequências dos nucleotídeos obtidas a partir dos produtos de PCR mostraram 99-100% de identidade com as sequências correspondentes de R. amblyommatis quando analisadas pelo BLAST. Desta forma, os resultados indicam a circulação de R. amblyommatis nos carrapatos e/ou uma cepa muito próxima circulando na microrregião.

ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to investigate exposure of Baixadeiro horses to Rickettsia spp. and to ticks infected by Rickettsia in the Baixada Maranhense (lowlands) micro-region, state of Maranhão. A total of 258 horses were tested for Rickettsia rickettsii, Rickettsia amblyommatis and Rickettsia bellii using the immunofluorescence assay (IFA). Overall, 58.91% (152/258) of the horses were seroreactive for at least one Rickettsia species, and 85.27% of the horses were infested with one or more species of tick, which were identified as Dermacentor nitens (93.63%), Amblyomma cajennense sensu stricto (4.55%) and Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus (1.82%). These ticks were subjected to DNA extraction and were tested using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), targeting two rickettsia genes: citrate synthase gene (gltA) and 190kDa outer membrane protein gene (ompA). Three specimens of A. cajennense s.s. were positive. BLAST analyses on the nucleotide sequences obtained from the PCR products showed that these were 99-100% identical to the corresponding sequences of R. amblyommatis. Thus, results indicate that R. amblyommatis and/or a strain very close to this is circulating in ticks in this micro-region.

RESUMO: A piroplasmose equina é uma doença transmitida por carrapatos causada pelos protozoários intraeritrocitários Babesia caballi e Theileria equi. É relatada como uma doença parasitária comum em equinos. Além disso, Anaplasma phagocytophilum, o agente causal da ehrlichiose granulocítica, causa uma doença sazonal em equinos. Ambas as doenças, podem ser prejudiciais para a saúde animal. Nesse sentido, amostras de sangue e carrapatos foram coletadas de 97 cavalos criados na microrregião da Baixada Maranhense, estado do Maranhão, Brasil. As amostras de soro foram submetidas ao Teste de Imunofluorescência Indireta (RIFI) e amostras de sangue e os carrapatos a Reação da Polimerase em Cadeia (PCR) para avaliar a infecção por Theileria equi, Babesia caballi e Anaplasma phagocytophilum. A prevalência foi de 38,14%, 18,55% e 11,34% para T. equi, B. caballi e A. phagocytophilum, respectivamente. Os resultados da PCR para as amostras de sangue demonstraram 13,40% e 3,09% de positividade para T. equi e B. caballi, respectivamente. Um total de 170 specimens de carrapatos foi coletado e foram identificados Dermacentor nitens, Amblyomma cajennense sensu lato and Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus. Obteve-se 2,35% (4/170) e 0,59% (1/170) positivos por PCR para T. equi e B. caballi, respectivamente. Todas as amostras foram negativas para A. phagocytophilum. Não houve diferença estatística significativa (p>0.05) em relação ao sexo, idade, uso de ectoparasiticida e presença de carrapatos. A análise BLASTn das amostras sequenciadas para gene 18S rRNA indicaram 97 a 100% de similaridade com T. equi e 98-100% com B. caballi no GenBank. Análises genéticas classificaram as sequencias obtidas no mesmo clado que T. equi e B. caballi, respectivamente. Podemos concluir que estes patógenos estão circulando na área de estudo.

ABSTRACT: Equine piroplasmosis is a tick-borne disease caused by the intraeytrhocytic protozoans Babesia caballi and Theileria equi. It has been reported as a main equine parasitic disease. In addition, Anaplasma phagocytophilum, the causative agent of granulocytic ehrlichiosis, causes a seasonal disease in horses. Both diseases, can be detrimental to animal health. In this sense, blood samples and ticks were collected from 97 horses raised in the microregion of Baixada Maranhense, Maranhão State, Brazil. Serum samples were subjected to Indirect Fluorescence Antibody Test (IFAT) and blood samples and ticks to Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) to evaluate the infection by Theileria equi, Babesia caballi and Anaplasma phagocytophilum. The overall seroprevalence was 38.14%, 18.55% and 11.34% for T. equi, B. caballi and A. phagocytophilum, respectively. The results of PCR from blood samples showed 13.40% and 3.09% positive samples to T. equi and B. caballi, respectively. A total of 170 tick specimens were collected and identified as Dermacentor nitens, Amblyomma cajennense sensu lato and Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus. It was detected 2.35% (4/170) and 0.59% (1/170) positive tick samples by PCR for T. equi and B. caballi, respectively. All samples were negative to A. phagocytophilum. No statically difference (p>0.05) was observed when gender, age, use of ectoparasiticide and tick presence were analyzed. A BLASTn analysis of the sequenced samples indicated 97 to 100% similarity with T. equi 18S rRNA gene sequences in GenBank and 98 to 100% with B. caballi. Genetic analysis classified the obtained sequences as T. equi and B. caballi cluster, respectively. It can be concluded that these pathogens occur and are circulating in the studied area.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar a concordância entre as redes neurais artificiais (RNAs) e o método de Eberhart & Russel na identificação de genótipos de feijão-caupi (Vigna unguiculata) com alta adaptabilidade e estabilidade fenotípicas. Utilizou-se o delineamento experimental de blocos ao acaso com quatro repetições. Os tratamentos consistiram de 18 linhagens experimentais e duas cultivares de feijão-caupi. Foram conduzidos quatro ensaios de valor de cultivo e uso nos municípios de Aquidauana, Chapadão do Sul e Dourados, no estado do Mato Grosso do Sul. Os dados de produtividade de grãos foram submetidos às análises de variância individual e conjunta. Em seguida, os dados foram submetidos às análises de adaptabilidade e estabilidade por meio dos métodos de Eberhart & Russell e de RNAs. Houve elevada concordância entre os métodos avaliados quanto à discriminação da adaptabilidade fenotípica dos genótipos de feijão-caupi semiprostrado, o que indica que as RNAs podem ser utilizadas em programas de melhoramento genético. Em ambos os métodos avaliados, os genótipos BRS Xiquexique, TE97-304G-12 e MNC99-542F-5 são recomendados para ambientes desfavoráveis, gerais e favoráveis, respectivamente, por apresentarem produtividade de grãos acima da média geral dos ambientes e alta estabilidade fenotípica.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to verify the agreement between artificial neural networks (ANNs) and the Eberhart & Russel method in identifying cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) genotypes with high phenotypic adaptability and stability. The experimental design was in a randomized complete block with four replicates. The treatments consisted of 18 experimental lines and two cowpea cultivars. Four value for cultivation and use trials were conducted in the municipalities of Aquidauana, Chapadão do Sul, and Dourados, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Grain yield data were subjected to individual and joint variance analyses. Then, the data were subjected to adaptability and stability analyses through the methods of Eberhart & Russell and ANNs. There was a high agreement between the methods evaluated for discrimination of the phenotypic adaptability of semi-prostrate cowpea genotypes, indicating that ANNs can be used in breeding programs. In both evaluated methods, the BRS Xiquexique, TE97-304G-12, and MNC99-542F-5 genotypes are recommended for harsh, general, and favorable environments, respectively, for having grain yield above the overall average of environments and high phenotypic stability.

A colheita é momento crítico na produção do amendoim (Arachis hypogaea L.), porém, nesta operação as perdas são inevitáveis, podendo chegar, em alguns casos, a valores de até 30% da produtividade. O amendoim é cultivado em um curto período de tempo durante a reforma dos canaviais, o que proporciona melhor uso dos espaços agrícolas na região de Jaboticabal, SP. Objetivou-se com esta pesquisa definir a antecipação do arranquio do amendoim a partir da determinação da maturação. Realizou-se o arranquio do amendoim aos 120; 125; 130; 135 e 140 dias após a semeadura. Os resultados foram submetidos à análise de variância pelo teste F e quando houve significância das médias, aplicou-se o teste de Tukey a 5% de probabilidade, mediante uso do diagrama de caixas para as variáveis: maturação, teor de água das vagens e do solo, resistência mecânica do solo à penetração, perdas na colheita e produtividade. O diagrama de caixas mostrou-se eficiente para a avaliação univariada das variáveis analisadas do amendoim, criando excelentes condições de visualização do comportamento das mesmas. Recomenda-se iniciar o arranquio do amendoim aos 120 DAS.

The harvest is a critical time in the production of the peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.), however in this operation losses are inevitable, in some cases of up to 30% of production. Peanuts are grown for a short period during the reform of the sugarcane fields, providing better usage of the agricultural spaces in Jaboticabal, São Paulo. The objective of this research was to see how early the peanuts could be dug up once they are seen to have matured. The peanuts were dug up at 120, 125, 130, 135 and 140 days after sowing. Results were subjected to variance analysis by the F-test, and when there was significance of the averages, the Tukey test at 5% probability was applied, using a box plot for the following variables: maturation, moisture content of pods and soil, mechanical resistance of soil to penetration, harvest loss and productivity. The box plot proved efficient in the univariate evaluation of the analyzed variables, creating excellent conditions for viewing their behavior. Digging up the peanuts at 120 DAS is recommended.

A colheita mecanizada de café se destaca como um dos principais avanços tecnológicos em benefício dos produtores, porém, problemas com planejamento no plantio e desenvolvimento da cultura, bem como falhas na regulagem da colhedora, podem acarretar em redução na eficiência da operação, tornando-a mais estressante para a cultura que a colheita manual. Diante disso, o presente trabalho foi realizado no município de Patos de Minas, MG, com o objetivo de avaliar os danos na parte vegetativa e a qualidade da colheita mecanizada do café cultivado em plantio circular sob pivô central, com duas frequências de vibração das hastes, sob o controle estatístico do processo. Observou-se que a bienalidade negativa sobre a cultura reduziram a carga inicial de café, eliminando o efeito das condições de insolação. Os índices de qualidade da colheita apresentaram distribuição assimétrica, com grande variabilidade nas amostras, sendo apenas a eficiência de derriça influenciada pelos eixos avaliados, e se mostrando estável pelo controle estatístico. Os danos causados às plantas pela colheita apresentaram valores desejáveis, não variando em função dos fatores analisados, mas sendo considerado sob controle estatístico.

Mechanized coffee harvesting is one of the main technological advances that benefit producers, but problems with planning for planting and crop development and faults in harvester adjustment can reduce the efficiency of the operation, making it more stressful for the crop than manual harvesting. Thus the present study was carried out in the municipality of Patos de Minas, MG, Brazil with the objective of assessing the damage in the vegetable part and the quality of the mechanized harvesting of coffee cropped in a circular planting system under a center pivot, with two rod vibration frequencies and statistical control of the process. It was observed that the negative biennially on the crop reduced the initial coffee load eliminating the effects of the insolation conditions. The harvest quality indices were distributed asymmetrically and the samples varied greatly and only the stripping efficiency was influenced by the axles assessed and were shown to be stable by the statistical control. The damage to the plants by the harvester presented desirable values and did not vary in function of the factors analyzed, but was considered under statistical control.

Considerando que a colheita é a etapa final de um processo produtivo e que as perdas devem ser mantidas dentro de padrões aceitáveis, as regulagens das colhedoras e as características agronômicas da cultura deverão permitir menores perdas quantitativas para que possa atingir o máximo nível de qualidade e maior sustentabilidade do sistema produtivo. Este trabalho teve como objetivo determinar as perdas quantitativas, distribuição de palha e características operacionais da colhedora por meio do controle estatístico de processo, bem como verificar a qualidade da operação de colheita. O trabalho foi realizado no município de Santa Juliana (MG), com as coordenadas geográficas de referência 19º 18'Se 47º 31'O. A área amostrada constou de 40 pontos distribuídos em malha retangular, equidistantes de 50 m, definidos sequencialmente a partir do momento de início da colheita. Em cada ponto foi determinado o teor de água dos grãos, número de vagens por planta, altura de inserção de primeira vagem, altura de plantas, produtividade, distribuição de palha e características operacionais da colhedora. A perda de grãos ocasionada pela colhedora esteve fora dos limites de controle, porém dentro dos padrões aceitáveis de perdas para cultura da soja. A qualidade da operação de colheita e as regulagens da colhedora foram dependentes da velocidade de deslocamento. A distribuição de palha esteve próxima do desejável para o sistema de semeadura direta. A utilização das cartas de controle foi eficiente na identificação dos pontos fora de controle e na avaliação da qualidade do processo de colheita.

Considering that the harvest is the final step of a productive process and the losses should be kept within acceptable standards, the settings of harvesters should reduce quantitative losses and warrant high quality and sustainability of the productive system. This study aimed to determine the quantitative losses, straw distribution and operational characteristics of the harvester through the statistical process control, and to verify the quality of the harvesting operation. The study was conducted in Santa Juliana, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil (19º18' S and 47º31' W). The area sampled consisted in 40 points distributed in rectangular grid, equidistant from 50 m, defined sequentially after harvest starting. At each point, we evaluated the water content of the grains, number of pods per plant; insertion height of first pod; plant of height; productivity; straw distribution and operational characteristics of the harvester. The grain loss caused by the harvester was outside the control limits, but within the acceptable standards of losses for soybean crop. The quality of the harvesting operation and adjustments of the harvester were dependent on the speed displacement. The straw distribution proved to be near of the desirable for no-tillage system. The use of control charts was efficient for identifying the points out of control and assessing the quality of harvesting process.
