Open-access Diferenças cromossômicas entre espécies e populações de Anopheles (*)

Summary

This is a discussion of data related to the chromosome constitution of species and populations of Anopheles and also of some aspects related to morphological, ecological and behavioral characters. Special attention was given to the chromosome differences both among species and populations resulting from rearrangements by paracentric inversions, detected by the analysis of band pattern of polytene chromosomes. Data related to species of the complexes Anopheles maculipennis and Anopheles gambiae, and three species of the subgenus Nyssorhynchus — Anopheles darlingi, Anopheles nuneztovari and Anopheles albitarsis were briefly reviewed.
