Summary
The authors study the occurense of Pinta in the Amazonas State particularly among the population along the Solimões, Purus and Javari rivers. For initial studies they concentrate on an indian community from the Tikunas group in the region of Umariuaçu on the border of Brazil with Peru and Colômbia. In this community of about 1,300 indians 20 cases were found as clinically suspected and later confirmed through biopsies and sorologie.
