Summary

The identification of weeds of region of Manaus (EMBRAPA) for agronomical purposes is the objetive of this work. Two surveys were made for the study of these weeds. The first was made in an abandoned area of 4.5 hectares and the second in an experimental plot of beans (Vigna unguiculata L.) of 1080 m2. Keys are provided for determination of families and species when are more than one in the family. Of each species a photograph and description are provided and of those (20) that germinated the information and drawings of the various stages of development are given. Some additional observations were made to provide a better knowledge of the biology of different species, for example the speed of growth of some weeds such as Emilia sonchifolia Benth, the preference for certain areas where they are more densely found as Scleria pterota Presl, Borreria laevis (Lam.) Griseb, the dispersion as Mikania congesta DC, etc.
