Myxobiota of Serra de Itabaiana National Park, Sergipe State, Brazil: Liceales

A study on Liceales species found in Serra de Itabaiana Ecological Reserve, Sergipe, Brazil (10º40'52''S; 37º25'15''W, 180-670 m alt.) was carried out in various vegetation formations, in order to increased our knowledge of Myxomycete distribution in the Neotropics. This is the first report on the myxobiota of this state. From April, 2002 to December, 2003 sporocarps and substrate samples were collected during 19 field trips (four days each) in different seasons, and the material was subsequently cultured in moist chambers. Representative herbarium specimens are deposited in the UFP Herbarium (Federal University of Pernambuco, Recife). Five genera were reported, belonging to the families Cribrariaceae (Cribraria, 6 spp.), Liceaceae (Licea, 1 sp.), and Reticulariaceae (Lycogala, 3 spp., Reticularia, 1 sp., Tubifera, 4 spp.). All taxa constitute the first record for the state of Sergipe. The distribution of Tubifera dimorphoteca Nann.-Bremek. & Loer. was extended in South America, including a first-time collection in Brazil.
