Decomposing, Hyphomycetes 4: associated species of Ctenanthe oppenheimiana Sond. roots

Decomposing roots of Ctenanthe oppenheimiana Sond. (Marantaceae) were collected from January of 1986 to December of 1987 in the Seção de Ornamentais of Instituto de Botânica, São Paulo State, Brazil. The roots were prepared by washing technique with destiled water and observed for Hyphomycetes decomposing fungi, the following taxa were found: Acremonium sp., Dictyochaeta fertilis Hughes & Kendrick, Humicola grisea Traaen, Phialocephala fusca Kendrick, Pithomyces chartarum Berk. & Curt.) M. B. Ellis, Rhinocladiella phaeophora Veerkamp & W. Gams, Sporidesmiella hyalosperma (Corda) P. M. Kirk var. hyalosperma P. M. Kirk, and Tetraploa aristata Berkeley & Broome. Phialocephala fusca is mentioned for the first time in Brazil.
