Key words: Aneurysm; myocardial infarction.
A 68-year-old woman with a giant left ventricular aneurysm caused by a past extensive myocardial infarction presented at our outpatient clinic complaining of shortness of breath. The mediolateral diameter of the aneurysm was 72 mm, which is much larger than the ventricle itself (Figure 1). Left ventricular ejection fraction was 35%.
She had a history of high-dose nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug use due to her chronic arthritis, which might have possibly contributed to the expansion of her large aneurysm. The presence of hypertension and the use of steroids and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs may promote aneurysm formation.
