  A gravidade da ocorrência das uveítes, aliada à diversidade de suas apresentações e à necessidade do reconhecimento adequado de possíveis complicações (oculares e sistêmicas), das condutas para diagnóstico e encaminhamentos, alternativas terapêuticas e prognósticas, sobre passam a importância referente ao atendimento específico de um caso, para se converter num intrincado e fascinante exercício da arte médica. É aí, principalmente, que o oftalmologista se encontra com o clínico para se debruçarem sobre um dos assuntos que mais tem recebido atenções, ultimamente: o sistema das imunidades e biocompatibilidades.
