SUMMARY
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the usefulness of conjunctival biopsy as a routine procedure in the evaluation of patients with suspected sarcoidosis. We studied histologically eighteen biopsies from 9 patients with previously confirmed systemic sarcoidosis. The 18 biopsies (100%) were negative for a noncaseating granulomatous process. We concluded that conjunctival biopsy is not a useful procedure for the diagnosis of sarcoidosis.
