A partir de uma análise das reflexões de Freud sobre as motivações da guerra e as possibilidades da paz, presentes sobretudo nos textos "Considerações atuais sobre a guerra e a morte" e "Por que a guerra?", o autor formula a idéia de que o pacifismo poderia ser encarado como uma expressão da pulsão de morte, enquanto o reconhecimento da guerra como forma primeira do socius poderia manifestar uma expressão da pulsão de vida.

Eternal peace? From an analysis of Freud's reflection on the motivations for war and the possibilities of peace present mainly in the text "Current considerations on war and death" and "Why the war?", the author develops the idea that pacifism could be seen as an expression of death instinct whereas recognizing war as the vary form of the socius might mean an expression of life instinct.

Objetiva-se pensar os efeitos do poder sobre os processos de subjetivação, tomando como referência central o paradoxo da sujeição na constituição das subjetividades, tal como ele se apresenta nas obras de Judith Butler, Freud e Nietzsche. A partir destas considerações, recorrendo a alguns trabalhos de Gilles Deleuze e Giorgio Agamben, pretende-se também considerar determinados processos de singularização que, enquanto práticas de liberdade, se oferecem como alternativas de combate aos modelos de subordinação identitária.

Subjection and singularity in the processes of the formation of subjectivity. The article at hand aims to reflect on the effects of power over the processes of the formation of subjectivity, taking as a central reference the paradox of subjection as it is presented in the works of Judith Butler, Freud and Nietzsche. From these considerations on, turning to some works of Gilles Deleuze and Giorgio Agamben, it also intends to consider certain processes of singularization, which, as practices of liberty, offer themselves as alternatives of combat to the models of subordination based on the processes of identity.

A dispersão de interpretações sobre o sintoma social na literatura psicanalítica levou-nos a revisitar o texto freudiano "O mal-estar na cultura", a fim de situar uma diferença entre as noções psicanalíticas de cultura e laço social. De Freud a Lacan, propusemo-nos a avançar na leitura do mal-estar pela aproximação entre perversão e cultura e neurose e laço social. Seguindo esta linha interpretativa, indagamos sobre a posição do psicanalista na crítica social, uma vez que identificamos a assunção de uma posição moral, isto é, de fetichização dos ideais, ao propor-se a defesa de um laço regulado pelo gozo fálico.

Perversion of culture, neurosis of the social bond. Due to the different the interpretations of the social symptom in psychoanalytical literature, we have decided to review the Freudian text "Malaise in the culture" in order to point out a difference between the psychoanalytical concept of culture and social bond. From Freud to Lacan, we have considered focusing on the reading of the malaise taking into account the relation between perversion and culture and neurosis and social bond. Following this interpretative line we inquire into the position of the psychoanalyst in social criticism. Once we can find the consideration of a bond regulated by the phallic joy, which helps us to identify the installation of a moral position, that means, to have a fetish for ideals.

As noções gregas de "dizer verdadeiro" (parrhêsia) e "dizedor do verdadeiro" (parrhesiastes), trazidas à luz por Michel Foucault em seu estudo sobre o cuidado e as práticas de si na Antiguidade, são utilizadas para problematizar os modos como a prática de escuta e fala pode se materializar no espaço psicanalítico, assim como seus efeitos. Para constituir-se numa prática de liberdade, a psicanálise dependerá da maneira como o analista exerce sua atividade de "dizedor do verdadeiro".

On "free speech" in the analytical space. The Greek notions of "free speech" (parrhêsia) and "free speaker" (parrhesiastes), brought to light by Michel Foucault in his study on the care and practices of the self in the Antiquity, are used to problematize the way on how the practice of listening and speaking can be materialized in the psychoanalytical space, as well as its effect. The practice of psychoanalysis will be a practice of freedom, depending on how the analyst uses it to act as "parrhesiastes" - his specific speech activity.

Pretende-se acompanhar o desenvolvimento do pensamento psicanalítico de Sandor Ferenczi com relação ao tema da empatia (Einfühung). E ainda situar a contribuição ferencziana com relação às posições freudianas e frente ao contexto da atual valorização das experiências intersubjetivas nos debates clínicos e teóricos em psicanálise.

Ferenczi and the experience of Einfühlung. This article intends to follow the development of Sandor Ferenczi's psychoanalytical thought concerning the theme of empathy (Einfühlung). It also intends to situate the Ferenczian contribution to Freudian conceptions in the face of the context of the current valorization of intersubjective experiences in the clinical and theoretical debates in psychoanalysis.

Analisa-se a primeira década de produção teórica freudiana, com o intuito de circunscrever a primeira concepção metapsicológica de angústia. A angústia é referida a uma psicopatologia particular, a neurose de angústia, sendo esta tomada como modelo para a primeira teoria sobre a angústia. Discute-se o mecanismo que articula excesso energético e insuficiência de elaboração psíquica, além das ambigüidades na teoria dos representantes psíquicos. O objetivo é mostrar que um contraponto à teoria da representação psíquica pode ser traçado desde as origens da metapsicologia, apontando alguns desdobramentos para investigações posteriores sobre o movimento do pensamento freudiano.

Freud's first conception of anguish: a critical review. The paper analyses the first decade of Freud's theoretical production in order to define the first metapsychological concept of anguish. Anguish is related to a specific psychopathology, the neurosis of anguish, electing it as a paradigm of that first model. The mechanism that articulates energetic excess and lack of psychic working over is discussed, as well as the ambiguities in the theory of psychic representation theory. The purpose is to show that a counterpoint to the theory of psychic representation can be traced back to the origins of metapsychology, pointing to some unfolding for further investigations on the development of the Freudian thinking.

Apresentam-se algumas considerações preliminares para uma abordagem cognitiva da doutrina psicológica presente na obra de Freud. Analisam-se as teorias freudianas da representação, do pensamento e da linguagem, com a finalidade de mostrar a coerência de seus conceitos com modelos que estão sendo debatidos atualmente nas ciências cognitivas. Correlacionando aspectos relevantes da teoria freudiana e alguns conceitos contemporâneos sobre o assunto, procura-se mostrar como os modelos atuais e o modelo freudiano concebem o pensamento como originário da experiência do sujeito, argumentando-se que não há dois processos de pensamento distintos mas diferentes padrões de conexão entre representações.

Representation and thought in Freudian theory: introduction to a cognitive approach. This text presents some preliminary considerations for a cognitive approach to Freud's psychological theory of psychoanalysis. It analyses Freudian theories of representation, thinking, and language, in order to show that they are coherent with the cognitive models that are being discussed nowadays in the cognitive sciences. The text links some relevant aspects of the Freudian theory to contemporary concepts and shows how the models discussed and the Freudian models conceive the experiential origin of thought, arguing that there are not two distinct processes of thinking but different patterns of connections involving representations.

Partindo da correspondência entre Freud e Einstein sobre a guerra e seus porquês, o autor faz um percurso que remonta à lei da selva e mostra como a origem e a manutenção do direito estão intrinsecamente ligadas à violência. Para tanto, utilizam-se basicamente textos de Freud, Lacan e Walter Benjamin, na tentativa de distinguir variados tipos de violência - desde raízes gregas até as últimas grandes guerras.

Law and violence. Based on the correspondence between Freud and Einstein on the war and its whys, in his work the author dates back to the law of the jungle and shows how the origin and maintenance of the law are closely connected to violence. To prove that he uses basically texts of Freud, Lacan and Walter Benjamin that try to distinguish the different kinds of violence from its Greek roots to the last great wars.
