Partindo da formulação lacaniana segundo a qual "em todo psicanalisante, há um discípulo de Aristóteles", o artigo pretende abordar o impasse atual no governo de si e dos outros articulando-o à servidão voluntária ao ideal platônico do filósofo-rei. Propondo pensar a questão de como sair dessa servidão, o autor versa sobre as críticas de Aristóteles, Arendt e Leo Strauss a uma política elaborada com base no modelo da família.

Based on the Lacanian formulation that "in every psychoanalysand, there is a disciple of Aristotle", the article aims to address the current impasse in the government of self and others linking it to voluntary servitude to the platonic ideal of the philosopher-king. Proposing to consider the question of how to get out of this bondage, the author discusses the criticism of Aristotle, Arendt and Leo Strauss to a policy which is based on the family model.

Partindo da formalização dada por Lacan a duas formas de discurso em que se organiza o laço social - o discurso universitário e o discurso do psicanalista -, o artigo examina o lugar que o saber ocupa em cada um deles. Enquanto no primeiro o saber ocupa o lugar de agente dominante, no discurso do analista o saber em questão é inconsciente. Em seguida procura tirar as consequências que tal formulação traz para a prática clínica tanto quanto para o ensino universitário da psicanálise. Aponta para o conflito que deve persistir a cada vez que os dois discursos são confrontados, pois desconhecê-lo é desconsiderar os efeitos perturbadores que a suposição de um saber inconsciente coloca em causa. Conclui apontando para a necessidade do saber inconsciente quando se trata do sofrimento e da angústia de um sujeito.

The article refers to Lacan's distinction between two forms of discourse - the discourse of the university and the one of the analyst -, to observe the place occupied in each of them by knowledge. Regarding the former knowledge is the dominant agent. As to the second, knowledge is unconscious. The consequences of this formulation are examined concerning both psychoanalytical practice and the academic teaching of psychoanalysis. A conflict that must be taken into consideration each time the two types of knowledge are faced with each other is pointed out. Not taking into account this conflict is to refuse to accept the disturbing effects that the supposition of an unconscious knowledge implies. The article concludes by pointing to the necessity of the supposition of unconscious knowledge whenever suffering and anxiety are at stake.

Trata-se de apresentar a contribuição de Paul Feyerabend ao debate entre psicanálise e ciência. A obra deste autor parece fornecer um novo horizonte de discussão, pois esvazia a pretensão de idealizar a ciência e a apresenta como atividade humana, impura, sem qualquer regra racional de funcionamento. Primeiro, faremos uma 'varredura' pelo campo atual de discussão, destacando alguns artigos que contribuem para esse debate. Seguiremos com uma crítica ao esforço de regramento epistemológico; e, por fim, apresentaremos a obra de Feyerabend, concentrando nossa atenção na leitura do célebre volume Contra o método, e no que esta obra acrescenta ao debate.

Our goal is to present the contribution of Paul Feyerabend's works to the debate between psychoanalysis and science. Feyerabend's works seem to presents a new discussion horizon, since it empties out there the pretension to idealize science, and presents it as a human activity, impure, without any rational rule of functioning. First, we will scan the current discussion field, highlighting some articles that contribute to the debate. We will follow by doing some critics to epistemology and its ruling efforts. Finally, we will present Feyerabend's works, concentrating our attention on the lecture of Against Method, his famous volume, and what this work adds to the debate.

Trata-se de apresentar notas para uma discussão sobre o método de pesquisa em psicanálise. Entre a psicanálise e a ciência há uma relação de compatibilidade lógica que se refere ao uso de uma qualificação que desqualifica o sentido habitual dos conceitos, produzindo assim um novo conceito pela via de articulações até então impossíveis. Esse trabalho é chamado pela epistemologia histórica de qualificação desqualificante, e por Lacan, de subversão. A articulação destes dois conceitos atesta a compatibilidade entre o modo de pesquisar em ciência e em psicanálise.

This article presents observations for a discussion on the research method in psychoanalysis. Between psychoanalysis and science there is a relationship of logical compatibility that refers to the use of a qualification that disqualifies the usual meaning of the concepts, thus producing a new concept by means of articulations that were previously impossible. This paper is called by the historical epistemology of qualification, disqualifying, and for Lacan, subversion. The articulation of these two concepts certifies the compatibility between the way of researching in science and in psychoanalysis.

Retomam-se três conceitos freudianos - a Verdrängung, a Verwerfung e a Verleugnung -, discute-se as dificuldades de seu entendimento frente às traduções disponíveis em português, com base numa análise semântica dos originais em alemão. Em seguida, por meio de dispositivos de análise semiótica (o quadrado semiótico e as modalizações) comparam-se e confrontam-se as modulações do /SABER/, do /CRER/ e do /QUERER/ nos movimentos semântico-modais desses três mecanismos psíquicos formulados por Freud. O objetivo é propor subsídios teóricos (eventualmente extensíveis à clínica) capazes de distinguir, com base nas estruturas extraídas dessas modalidades, as posições subjetivas diferenciadas do paciente.

This paper returns to three Freudian concepts - Verdrängung, Verwerfung and Verleugnung -, and it discusses the difficulties of their understanding because of the translations available in Portuguese based on a semantic analysis of the original in the German version. Then, through some devices of semiotic analysis (the semiotic square and its modalizations), the modulations of /KNOW/ /BELIEVE/ /WANT/ are compared and confronted in the semantic-modal movements of these three psychic mechanisms formulated by Freud. Our goal is to propose theoretical explanations (possibly applying them to the clinic) able to distinguish, based on the extracted structures of those modalities, the different subjective positions of the patient.

Aborda-se a complexa relação do sujeito com o desejo da mãe no âmbito do fenômeno da anorexia mental. Destaca-se a relação que se estabelece entre a satisfação pulsional obtida pela atividade alimentar e o funcionamento mental na produção de sintomas concernentes ao transtorno alimentar. Evidencia-se o aspecto fundamental da singularidade própria da interferência do componente mãe/filha sobre o aparecimento dos sintomas anoréxicos, ou seja, a anorexia mental como resistência à onipotência materna.

The text discusses the complex relationship of the subject with the mother's desire in the scope of the phenomenon of mental anorexia. It highlights the established relationship between the pulsional satisfaction from the feeding activity and the mental functioning in the production of symptoms related to the eating disorder. It focuses on the fundamental aspect of the singularity characteristic of the interference of the component mother/daughter on the appearance of the anorexic symptoms, that is, the mental anorexia as a resistant element to the maternal omnipotence.

Discute-se a importância do mito familiar para a função materna. Este mito se refere ao lugar do bebê, revelado por meio do discurso dirigido ao personagem que ele encarna na fantasia fundamental dos pais e que está relacionado àquilo que o precede. Consideramos que este mito tem impacto fundamental na constituição subjetiva do futuro sujeito. Tais aspectos conceituais receberam apoio no estudo de caso de uma mãe, da gestação até os oito meses do bebê. A partir deste caso se percebe o efeito e a importância da montagem imaginativa materna desde antes do nascimento do bebê.

This article discusses the importance of the family myth for the maternal role. This myth refers to the infant's place revealed through the discourse directed towards the character that the infant embodies in the parents' fundamental fantasy and it is related to that which precedes him. We consider that this myth has a fundamental impact on the subjective constitution of the future subject. Such conceptual aspects were supported by a case study involving a mother, from her pregnancy to the child's eighth month of life. Based on this case the effect and importance of maternal imaginative process from before the infant's birth are highlighted.

A debilidade mental permanece com etiologia obscura, e hoje em dia é definida pela psiquiatria como o grau mais leve de todos os retardos mentais (QI entre 50 e 70). Além desta classificação métrica, a Clínica Psicanalítica define a Debilidade Mental como uma posição psíquica encontrada tanto em indivíduos saudáveis biologicamente quanto em portadores de alguma deficiência neurológica. Por esta concepção, a psicanálise pode contribuir ao debate do tema.

Nowadays the origin of Mental Debility is not clear. Mental Debility is defined by psychiatry as the lowest level of all Mental Retardations (IQ ranging from 50 to 70). Besides this metric assessment, the psychoanalytic clinic defines Mental Debility as a psychic position established in both biologically healthy individuals as well as in individuals with some kind of neurologic deficiency. Therefore, psychoanalysis may have a contribution to this discussion.
