Open-access BIOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF THE ADULTS OF FANNIA PUSIO (WIEDEMANN,1830) (DIPTERA: FANNIIDAE), UNDER LABORATORY CONDITIONS

ABSTRACT

With the purpose of studying some aspects of the biology of Fannia pusio, there were exposed five colonies, with 30 couples per colony, in a camera acclimatized at 27ºC. The colonies were fed with a 10% water and honey solution and the eggs were obtained in a medium of fish flour and sawdust in the proportion of 3:1 and moistened with blood. The average lethal period of the colonies was 21 days. The oviposition period was on the average of three days and the mean number of postures/colony, eggs/posture, eggs/female was 15; 148.6 and 75.72, respectively. After the beginning of the postures, the largest amount of eggs was observed on the 17th day.
