POPULATIONAL FLUCTUATION OF ALPHITOBIUS DIAPERINUS (PANZER, 1979) (COLEÓPTERA: TENEBRIONIDAE), CAPTURED BY TRAPS ON FARMS IN PELOTAS, RS, BRAZIL

ABSTRACT

Alphitobius diaperinus (Coleóptera: Tenebrionidae) colonizes substrata found in farms and can cause sanitary and economical problems by the increase of its populations. To better understand the behavior of this coleoptero on poultry farms the population fluctuation was evaluated at a farm in the municipal of Pelotas, RS, Brazil, for 12 months, by means of traps. A. diaperinus occurred in all of the months of the experimental period, with a population density that varied throughout the year, with the capture of adults and larvae.
