EVALUATION OF THE SUSCEPTIBILITY MICE ZYGOTES TO BOVINE HERPESVIRUS 1: AN EXPERIMENTAL MODEL FOR EMBRYO-VIRUS INTERACTION STUDIE

ABSTRACT

The aim of this work was to evaluate mouse zygote susceptibility to BoHV-1, to obtain an in vitro model, to allow studies about embryo-virus interaction and the potential risk of the transmission of the virus through IVF techniques. Female mice (Balb C) aged 6-8 weeks were superovulated with the hormones eCG and hCG and mated for zygotes retrieval. The zygotes were divided in 3 groups: control and exposed to the virus for 24h (two different concentrations -10 µL and 30 µL). Each group was divided for morphological evaluation and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis was performed after sequential washing procedures with trypsin treatment. According to the results, mouse zygotes could be used as an experimental model for embryo-virus biology interaction studies.
