HYMENOPTERA PARASITOIDS OF CALLIPHORIDS OF FORENSIC INTEREST: NEW OCCURRENCES

ABSTRACT

This paper reports new occurrences of parasitoid species emerging from the puparia of calliphorids of forensic importance. During the months of June and July 2004, 595 puparia of insects from the Calliphoridae family were collected from pig carcasses in an area of native forest in Lavras, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. There were 465 specimens of Chrysomya spp. and 130 of Hemilucilia segmentaria (Fabricius, 1805). Three species of parasitoid hymenoptera emerged from these puparia: Spalangia sp. and Pachycrepoideus vindemmiae (Rondani, 1875) (Pteromalidae) emerged from the puparia of H. segmentaria, and Trichopria sp. (Diapriidae) emerged from the puparia of Chrysomya spp.
