A SIGNALÉTICA DAS AÇÕES:

The signaletic of actions: the case of descriptive naming

The designations of police and military actions, as well as of police programs, projects, and cases which present the structure “Operation Trojan Horse”, comprehended as “cN + X” (common name plus a variable), show their own linguistic behaviors. In this paper, we propose to understand this semantic mechanism of the referential phenomena, which was described by Kleiber (1985) as descriptive designation. In order to support our proposals, we also use the notion of signaletic, created by Bosredon (2007), which tries to explain the main processes of denominating some items. Therefore, having as objects the designations used to nominate Brazilian Federal Police actions, we proceed an investigation on the rules for descriptive naming procedures. Besides, we also demonstrate that descriptive designations are hybrid linguistic constructions which have their own referential naming process, developed from the mix of referential properties of main name and of definite descriptions.
