Anastomosis between the occipital and vertebral arteries in two cases of internal carotid artery occlusion

Two cases of occlusion of internal carotid artery, with anastomosis of the occipital and vertebral arteries are reported. The adequacy of the blood supply which is eventually established through anastomotic channels is discussed. The authors are aware of only three similar cases in the medical literature which have been studied angiographically.
