The author presents a case of protrusion of ligamentum flavum at L4 level; the ligament was thickened. The patient exhibited clinical signs identical to disk hernia symptoms, accompanied by motor deficit and localized .sensory disturbances. Hemilaminectomy healed the patient from his painful and sensory troubles; four months after the operation he had slight muscular hypotony.
