The implantation of an intervention strategy at a health service

OBJECTIVE: To understand the experience of a nursing team in the implantation of the Child-Friendly Hospital Initiative (CFHI). METHODS: This qualitative research was carried out at the Rooming-in unit of the University Hospital at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. Five nurses and six technicians and nursing assistants took part. Data were collected by means of semi-structured interviews and the analysis of the reports was based on Janesick's perspective. RESULTS: Four categories were extracted from the reports: the impact of putting in practice the measures recommended by the CFHI; the awareness process for putting CFHI measures in practice; intervening factors when putting CFHI in practice and concretization of the "Ten Steps" of the CFHI. Authors who researched on change were used to analyze these categories. CONCLUSIONS: This study can contribute to evaluate this intervention strategy in practice, supporting the reorganization of care and management activities.
