Anonymous subjectivity and open culture in Hélio Oiticica’s thinking.

Abstract

Hélio Oiticica builds, in his writings as well as in his artworks, a powerful reflection on the subject and the world that articulates in a unique way constructivist tradition and 1970s counterculture. This paper aims to light up two of his notions - “anonymity” as subjective incidence in the work of art and culture as “open-roots”- and articulate them in order to emphasize the political dimension of Oiticica’s theoretical-artistic reflection and its current relevance as a proposal of an incessant building of a non-identitary “common”.
