Suspension and vibrating body: audiovisual experiences in luiz duVa

Abstract

The paper addresses some discussions that tangent the problematic of audiovisual in contemporary society. The study presents an analysis of the relationship between image and body in digital media from observation of the procedures employed in the video installation Retratos in motion: o beijo (2005) of the artist luiz duVa (São Paulo, 1965). The audiovisual experience is seen here in its tactile meanings as the place of contact, such as production of otherness. It depends mostly of crossings that promotes in the body of visitor. This study aims to verify how the sensations caused by it provide destabilizing strangeness, activating memories.
