Rock art sites in Buíque, Venturosa and Pedra, Pernambuco, Brazil, in the context of the landscape

Abstract

This article aims to relate landscapes and archaeological sites containing rock paintings at Venturosa, Pedra and Buíque based on the analysis and interpretation of geological, geomorphological, morpho-stratigraphical dates and spatial distribution. The relation between landscape and spaceconsidering the changes that occurred through time at the archaeological sites, give support to the understandingof the dynamics of adaptation in relation to environment and choice of sites in relation to aspects of the landscape. This analysis seeks to understand the logic of appropriation of the natural environment by human groups that lived in ancienttimes.
