INDIGENOUS MOVEMENTS OF ECUADOR: between collective action and connective action

MOVIMENTOS INDÍGENAS DO EQUADOR: entre a ação coletiva e a ação conjuntiva

MOVIMIENTOS INDÍGENAS DEL ECUADOR: entre la acción colectiva y la acción conectiva

ABSTRACT

This article analyzes the impact of the connective action of indigenous movements by studying the content generated in the web 2.0 of organizations and the press in Ecuador during the social protest of October 2019, as a consequence of the economic measures implemented by the government of President Lenin Moreno. For this purpose, qualitative research techniques such as observation sheets, interviews, KhosraviNik’s textual analysis, and (axiological) content analysis were used. It is concluded that connective action decolonizes the dominant opinion of the hegemonic media and generates discursive solidarity that reinforces collective action.
