Arithmetic tasks for the 6th grade of Elementary School

In this article, we discuss educational material developed by the graduate program in mathematics education of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. The purpose of the work was to develop tasks whose main feature was problem situations that stimulate the meaning production of students in the classroom. The mathematical structure underlying the situation-problem involved the addition and subtraction of natural numbers. The process of developing the educational material focused on the production of a set of tasks to be used in 6th grade math classes and that could serve as a prototype for the development of new tasks by the teacher.
