The chromosome number of four wild species of Arachis is reported. They are Arachis repens Handro (2n = 20) A. prostrata Handro (2n = 20), A. lutescens Krap. et Rigoni (2n = 20) and Arachis sp. (2n = 40). Root tips and very young leaves stained by haematoxylin, acetic acid and orcein were used for the countings; sometimes the material was pre-treated with paradichlorobenzene.
