A survey ok forty citrus orchards hy means of leap analysis

A leaf analysis survey of orange groves in São Paulo was carried out to provide better acquaintance with the nutritional levels of citrus trees in several areas. Samples of leaves of the spring cycle 6 to 7 month old were collected from 40 locations and analysed for twelve essential plant nutrients. These included N. P, K, Ca, Mg, S. Fe, Mn, Cn, Zn, 11 and Mo. Records were tahen on variety, sni! type, fertilizer practices, production, malnutrition symptoms, spray practices, and tree appearance. Soil samples were also collected at the time of leaf sampling and analysed. The results of this study showed a wide range in the leaf content of any nutrient-element. The lowest values of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, zinc and manganese obtained indicated deficiencies of these nutrients. In one case boron deficiency occurred. Some orchards with supposed molybdenum deficiency will be studied separetely. The data indicated generally satisfactory levels of calcium, sulphur, iron and copper.
