Abstracts

This paper presents various method used to evaluate the number of replications that guarantees the detection of prefixed differences with certain probabilities. The methods due to Neyman et al., Cochran & Cox, Harris, Horvitz & Mood, Tang, and finally the method due to Tukey, are presented with examples. Implications and limitations of these methods are also considered.
