Progenies of Coffea arabica cv IPR-100 resistant to root-knot nematode Meloidogyne paranaensis

The aim of this research was to identify large grain progenies of Coffea arabica cv IPR-100 with various level resistance to Meloidogyne paranaensis. The experiment was performed in greenhouse by artificial inoculation, with a experimental design of randomized blocks with 64 treatments (63 C. arabica 'IPR-100' progenies + C. arabica 'Mundo Novo'), 3 replications and 20 plants per plot. The Mundo Novo IAC 376-4 cultivar was used as susceptible standard to M. paranaensis. Five hundred eggs per plant were inoculated, totalizing 10000 eggs per plot of 100 cm². Gall and egg mass indexes were evaluated 109 days after the inoculations. The mother plants of the 24 progenies classified as resistants to M. paranaensis have potential to become an improved version of 'IPR-100' with large grains.
