SUMMARY
This paper reports the association of the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne javanica (Treuta.) Chitwood with Celosia argentea L. (Amaranthaceae), collected in the sandy soil of the Experimental Station of the Instituto Agronômico, located in Pindorama, São Paulo, Brazil. Examination of the material demonstrated within the knots the presence of large number of female nematodes as well as eggs. Analyses of the perineal region of adult females indicated typical pattern of Meloidogyne javanica. Tests of susceptibility of different plants to this nematode confirmed such identification.
