Evaluation of boron adsorption in soils cultivated with vineyards at Serra Gaúcha, Brazil

Boron adsorption was evaluated in soils under vineyards of cv. Concord, in the Serra Gaúcha viticultural region of State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. In 1991, an experiment was carried out with eight soil samples. Different concentrations of boron were added in order to obtain the equilibrium concentration. The maximum boron adsorption for each soil was evaluated using Langmuir equation. The soils studied showed high capability for boron adsorption at the original pH. The Langmuir equation was more consistent in the description of boron adsorption in four out of the eight evaluated samples.
