The influence of the tuber water content and available soil moisture on the sprouting capacity of nut grass

Nut Grass tubers showing 55, 35 and 25% of moisture were grown in soil with 100, 75, 50, 25 and 0%of available water, and the sprouting capacity was determined. Tubers having 35 and 25% of water showed the best sprouting data with increasing values of available soil moisture. With 55% of humidity the highest sprouting was observed at 50% of soil moisture. In this condition at higher soil moisture contents the percentage of sprouting decreases.
