Harvesting time and pot size influence on fertilizer trials with italian millet (Setaria italica béauv.)

SUMMARY

The harvesting time and pot size influence on the results of greenhouse experiments to study nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and sulphur fertilization on Italic Millet were investigated. Pots of 6 and 10 kg capacity were filled with a Podzolized Soil and harvests were made at 30, 60, and 71 days after germination.

With both sizes of pots and at any harvesting time, there was a clear response to nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer treatments indicating that the smaller pot and shorter harvesting time can be used in exploratory fertilizer irials for those nutrients.

Both the potassium and sulphur results were not conclusive
