Test performance of a disk plough

This study was conducted with the objective of evaluating a disc plough and to establish a relationship between the soil specific resistance and fuel consumption by volume of soil disturbed established as function of the travel speed and the disc horizontal cutting angle. The results showed that the soil specific resistance did not differ significantly with the increment of the travel speed, and neither by alterations in the disc cutting angle. The fuel consumption by volume of soil disturbed reduced with the increment of travel speed but was not influenced by the disk cutting angle. The values of soil specific resistance was in a range of 6.37 to 7.22 N/cm², in average, and the fuel consumption by volume of soil disturbed was in a range of 6.17 to 9.05 mL/m³, in average, at the cutting depth of 20 cm. The tractor speed was in a range of 2.5 to 6.0 km/h, in average.
