Detailed soil survey of the experimental station of Limeira, SP

This paper presents the soil survey, at a series level, of the Experimental Station of Limeira, SP. The station is located on the northern part of the natural sub-region of the Tietê River and covers an area of 198 ha. The general topography is gently undulated; the climate can be defined as Cwa according to Köppen; the parent material is of a drift nature, derived from mudstone and diabase; the original vegetation was mainly tropical broadleaf forest. In 81 out of 226 observed sites samples were taken for mechanical and chemical analysis (Ca²+, Mg2+, K+, Al³+ e pH) . The following soil mapping units were establisheds: Limeira serie, having a highly acid phase and an acid to slightly acid phase, and Goiabeira serie, both included in the Dark Red Latosol great group; Transição ortho Red Yellow Latosol - Textural B Terra Roxa serie and Transição Textural B Terra Roxa - ortho Red Yellow Latosol serie, both intergrades groups between Dark Red Latosol and Terra Roxa Estruturada; Boneca and Represa series, included in the Terra Roxa Estruturada great group. Four undifferentiated groups were also found.
