Stability of SnO2 dispersions containing L-Arginine or chitosan

The study of the stability of ceramic dispersions becomes more and more important for the control of conformation processes. There is not enough information on aqueous dispersions of SnO2 and their stability with different dispersants. Positively charged molecules in pH near the SnO2 isoelectric point, as L-arginine and chitosan, were successfully tested for raising the zeta potential of aqueous dispersions of this powder. Measurements of the zeta potential from electroacoustic signals showed that it is possible to obtain stable suspensions and zeta potential of +30 mV for aqueous dispersions of SnO2.
