Social exclusion and inclusion: testimonials of praticants of the solidary popular economy

The purpose of this paper is to identify the meanings given by women to social exclusion and social inclusion. Eleven women who have been in both situations were listened. Their inclusion in the social web, even under male domination, occurred via Solidary Popular Economy (SPE), more specifically, through Etiqueta Popular Project. The authors adopted the ethnographic method for data collection as well as the participant-observation and half-structured interviews techniques. The data analysis allowed identifying the existence of three forms of exclusion: non-recruitment, resignation and dismissal. The inclusion of these women happened when they obtained their artisan license, which means for them the obtension of a profession to be executed at SPE. Finally, we can consider that both categories - exclusion and inclusion - are related to the performance of social roles. The loss of reference of these roles causes the exclusion, for example, the loss of the role of a worker. However, the inclusion happens with the formation of new reference roles. In the case of the Project Etiqueta Popular it occurs through the formation of a group of professionals which work in a solidary way.
