The knowledge society and the access of information: for what and for who?

This paper discusses the paradigm crisis within the context of the industrialized society and the repercussions generated in the knowledge society as well as the dichotomy the knowledge brings in its scope as a domination and/or emancipation factor. It acknowledges the potential for information access and availability brought about the new technologies resources, and it draws to a conclusion by highlighting the role of libraries within this setting.
