Hypermedia evaluation in the physics teching and learning process: the gravitation case

In this article the author presents the main results from an activity carried out to evaluate hypermedia software designed for teaching and learning in physics. A hypermedia system for teaching gravitation, which was based on research inscience teaching, was developed to carry out the research. The basic principles that characterize hypermedia as a language that allows the non-linear access to information is considered, and its presentation through the use of sound, graphics, interaction and animation. The implications for the practice of teaching are also considered. Most teachers and students involved in the research made a positive evaluation of the technical, pedagogic and motivational aspects of the software. The study provided evidence that hypermedia contributes to High School students learning of physics in a motivated and meaningful way.
