Investigating methodology discussion generator problems: applications in Physics disciplines in Engineering teaching

To meet the National Curriculum Guidelines of the Engineering courses (DCNS), in terms of promoting teaching and learning situations that allow interaction of science with technology in all aspects of society, it was decided to build a new teaching methodology. To build the methodology, we searched for an orientation through studies about the National Curricula Guidelines of the Engineering courses, educational principles with an STS focus and in Problem Solving. In the research, three DGP (Discussion Generator Problems) occurred. This paper presents an investigation of the effects of PGD methodology in Physics teaching, in the first period of the course in Production Engineering in the University of Paraná, in 2008. The data analysis pointed to the relevance of the methodology PGD courses in engineering, because it addressed the formal knowledge of physics, through research and discussion as a way to break the traditional style and promote a new ways of building knowledge.
