Article published in 1920 in the journal A.B.C., from Rio de Janeiro. At first, the author talks about the brazilian context, especifically the Recife school, in particular about the book Ensaios de Crítica Estética, by Álvaro de Carvalho. In a second moment, he emphatically criticizes the nietzschean idea of the übermensch, pointing in the overman (above man) a type of ambitious individual, that uses force to dominate socially, as an upstart.
