Morphogenesis evaluation of Andropogon lateralis Nees with different levels of nitrogen in the four seasons of the year

This study was held to evaluate the morphogenic response of Andropogon lateralis to the use of different N levels, as urea. It was used plants in plots with marked tillers to monitor the variables under study. In each season, new tillers were marked and the treatments were aplied: 0, 100, 200 and 400kg of N/ha. It was evaluated leaf elongation, appearance and senescence rates, extended leaf length and phyllochron. Treatment with 200kg/ha of N presented higher elongation and appearance rates (P £ 0.061) in all seasons. Other treatments had different responses between treatments and within seasons. Leaf senescence was higher in the treatments with N applied, in autumn and winter, and had no difference in other seasons. Phyllochron was not different between treatments, the values varying according to the seasons. Average completely expanded leaves length was higher in treatment with 200kg/ha of N.
