INFESTATION INTENSITY OF THE CITRUS BORER, Diploschema rotundicolle (SERV.) IN CHINABERRY AND CITRUS PLANTS, IN SANTA MARIA - RS

SUMMARY Biological aspects and infestation frequency of Diploschema rotundicolle were observed at Santa Maria - RS, during 1989 and 1990 seasons in chinaberry, Metia azedarach (Meliaceae) and citrus spp. (Rutaceae). There was a preference for laying eggs on citrus plants. The life cycle is longer in citrus than in chinaberry and fewer adults emerged in citrus than in chinaberry. There was a greater number of predators inside galleryes in citrus plants.
