EFFECT OF NITROGEN RATES ON GARLIC YIELD

SUMMARY This experiment was conducted in Rio Grande-RS in 1987 to evaluate the effect of nitrogen rates on garlic yield. Planting date was on August 3nd and harvest on December 15th, 1987. The experimental design was a randomized block with four replications. The nitrogen rates were 0, 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150kg N. ha-1, 1/3 at planting and 2/3, 45 days later, using urea as N source. Nitrogen rates presented an quadratic effect on garlic bulb yields. The maximum technical efficiency rate was observed with 95.5kg/ha which produced 7,550 kg.ha of commercial bulbs.
