EFFECT OF NITROGEN SOURCES AND RATES ON BR 14 WHEAT CULTIVAR REACTION TO Septoria nodorum

Greenhouse experiment was carried out from may to october, 1989 at Federal University of Santa Maria, RS, to study the cultivar BR 14 reaction to Septoria nodorum under two nitrogen sources (NO3 and NH4), four doses (30, 60, 90 and 120 kg/ha), and pathogen inoculation. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with three factors. The experimental plot was three plants of wheat growning in pots with red-yellow Podzolic soil kept in 70% of field capacity. Nitrogen was applied at sowing time (30%) and at begining of tillering. The treatments, without Septoria nodorum inoculation, were not affected by nitrogen sources and doses. When treatments with Septoria nodorum inoculation are considered, neither nitrogen sources nor doses, was affected wheat dry matter. Disease damage increased with higher levels of nitrogen fertilization.
