A survey of scale species (Hemiptera-homoptera) associated with leaves of citrus plants in the region of Santa Maria-RS

A survey was conducted aiming to determine the most important scale species occuring on leaves of citrus in six locals in the region of Santa Maria, of Rio Grande do Sul state. Six citrus species common to all locations were selected and monthly surveyed from March 1993 to January 1994. Several scale species were detected belonging to the genera Aonidiella, Chrysompholus, Coccus, Lecanium, Mytilococcus, Parlatoria, Pinnapsis, Planococcus, Unnaspis. Some scale species were common to several citrus species while others were more specific.
