Canine tibial osteosynthesis by the use of intramedullary Steinmann pins through the tibial crest insertion

The diaphiseal tibial fractures have a high prevalence in the canino specie. This study demonstrates the versatility and eficiency in the use of two intramedullary Steinmann pins through normograde and retrograde insertions for reduction of these type of fractures. Ten dogs with variable age sex and weight with fractured tibias were submitted to surgical osteosynthesis procedures and then evaluated clinically and radiografically during the bone healing proccess.
