BACTERIAL CAUSES OF DIARRHEA IN NEONATAL CALVES

Neonatal diarrhea In bovines is a complex clinical manifestation, normally responsible for high rates of morbidity and mortality. The losses are observed not only due to the need of providing medication but also through mortality, reduction in growth and performance, compromizing weight gain and milk yields rates. The multiple aetiology of the disease involves the interaction of several variables, including causing agents, host and environment. In this revision the clinical aspects of colibacilosis and salmonellosis, its prevalence and pathogeny are considered. The sanitary management of colibacilosis, its prevention and treatment are also reviewed.
