Heterogeneity in Applied Linguistics Research: dialogism as principle of knowledge construction

ABSTRACT

The aim of this article is to discuss the possible epistemic and methodological confluence between some postulates of the so-called Bakhtinian thought and the present state of research of the field of Applied Linguistics. In order to do so, the heterogeneity of research in this field on these days is highlighted. Also, some proposals of the dialogic orientation concerning the relation established between investigator/investigated are considered. After that, the specificity of construction of objects, selection and delimitation of corpora, as well as the mobilization of analytical categories are analyzed in two investigations based on Bakhtin and the Circle's thought in the field of Applied Linguistics.
